Daily Looks: Week Ending 11.3.23

I really try not to change my color schemes when the weather changes, but it sure looks like that happens in my daily looks, eh?

My hope is you will enjoy my fun newsletters if you sign up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.

Sunday

Dress: Brindle Boutique~~Vest: Alembika-use code JODIE50~~Boots: Colin Stuart-Goodwill

From my Colorado days, I call myself an expert layering queen. That’s how you make an outfit perfect for the cool mornings that turn into the warmer days.

I shared this exact outfit and how it changed during the warm-up on Facebook.

Layering a vest over a jacket is one of my favorite ways to layer. When I first discovered it, it was like a light bulb went off. And now I try to incorporate it many times. In fact, the original crew has showcased the idea with a long vest and a short vest in the past.

This incredibly unique vest is from the brand, Alembika. They have the best “artsy” clothes (just check out their other vests too), but they aren’t inexpensive. I worked with them again this fall so I do have a discount code, JODIE50-where you get $50 off. You can see this same vest styled with a white column of color.
There is a button at the top, but I like using my Maggie’s magnet (found on Amazon) to hold the middle together.

The vest is layered over a jacket because the dress is short-sleeved. This is the shirt dress that I DIY to button all the way vertically. I shared it in an email earlier this summer. When I bought the dress it was called a “shirtdress” but only buttoned to the waist. I missed that point when I bought it online, and I really wanted to have the option to wear it as a duster.
So I took the self-belt and created a button panel down the entire length of the dress. I used a variety of buttons throughout and now I love it.

The leopard booties were a thrifted find at the end of spring, so this is my first time wearing them.

Jeans: Mott & Bow-Slim boyfriend c/o ~~Sweater: Amazon~~Flats: Steven-thrifted

With the cooler weather, I was happy to visit my sweater collection. This pink camo sweater was featured many years ago on my site and is still available on Amazon.
The sweater is a little long and flowy, so I experimented with tucking it. I took the photo with it tucked in the front, but I liked it better in the back.

I decided to layer it over another print top (which you saw styled in various ways for the summer months recently).

These jeans are considered slim boyfriend grey jeans (although they seem like a light black to me). I ended up sizing up to have them be a tad looser since I already have dark skinny jeans.

Then I added another print to the mix with my camo flats. And the pink velvet baseball cap is because my hair was greasy from my massage yesterday.

I wore my friend’s earring designs again (seen up close in the title photo), because I love how lightweight they are, and I can switch out the post to change them up. They are such a great deal on her Etsy site and come in a variety of metals.

Tuesday

Daily Looks: Week Ending 11.3.23 &Raquo; Tues 3
Dress: Amazon ~~Duster: was my mom’s ~~Booties: Not rated~~Socks: Sheec

This duster is actually a dress that my mom received once from a clothing company (worn here). She subsequently gave it to me saying it didn’t fit well, so I wore it in this article. At which time, she asked for it back, LOL. However, since then she returned it to me, and I think it’s super fun.

I wouldn’t have thought to layer it over this light blue dress except there is some light blue in the print. It’s subtle, but up close you can see it.

I’ve worn this t-shirt dress in a fancy way previously on the blog. Adding the duster over it is a great way to make the dress not seem as fitted.

I did wear the belt over the dress AND topper. At first, I had the belt under the duster, but I liked it this way better.

Since it’s autumn at least on the calendar, I wore a pair of ankle boots with my low-cut Sheec socks.

And because I believe in decorating as much of my body as possible, I even added a brooch to my headband.

Wednesday

Pants: no label~~Top: Anthropologie~~Shoes: Schutz

I’m all about texture today!! These silky joggers are perfect for our in-between weather. You’ve seen me wear them with a puffer vest a couple of years ago. They had been in my alterations pile for a long time because the waistband hung too low. I ended up rolling the waistband over and sewing it that way so it would stay. And I removed the ties.

This top was a steal from Anthropologie 2 years ago for only $15. When they are having their 75% off in-store, you can find some amazing deals. Of course, they have some good deals on their sales page too.
With the square neckline, I am wearing my Gatherall bra.

I wore this pair of flats that I’ve had for over 10 years. They have an ankle strap which is hidden by the joggers’ hemline.

And then a scarf in my hair that acts as a headband. In order to keep it in place, I do have bobby pins holding it above the ears.

Skirt: Free People-Marshalls~~Top & Cardigan: Belong Lifestyle~~Shoes: Vince Camuto-Goodwill

You can see how my supervisor wanted in on the action! I was challenging myself to print mixing again when I pulled out this red plaid skirt.

You’ve seen this skirt as part of my color recipe years ago, and I did wear it with stripes in that article. Not only did I want to try it with a different kind of print, but I also wanted to see how the red plaid would look with a rust-colored sweater. What do you think?

If you haven’t heard, metallic shoes are a huge hit this season. I rounded up some options in this link if your closet is missing them. I always feel like metallic shoes are such a great neutral no matter what time of year.

Instead of trying to match the colors of my outfit with my accessories, I opted for turquoise blue. The brooch, the earrings, and my glasses add that extra accent color to the mix.

Friday

Dress: eShakti~~Vest: no label~~Boots: Top Moda from Just Be Youtiful’s website here use code JTOUCH15

I didn’t realize that I had the same color scheme today as yesterday, but tis the season, right?

This dress was a recent purchase from eShakti during one of their sales. Here it was but it doesn’t seem available now. But they have some amazing deals if you have the time to look. And if you’ve never ordered from the site before, use my link for $50 off which is an incredible offer. You’ll end up paying about $25 for a custom-fit piece of clothing.

Since the material is shiny, I casualized it with the sweater vest and silver cowboy booties. These booties were a hit when I wore them recently and you’ll be seeing them often.
They are still available and a total steal at under $40 with my discount., Jtouch15, I’d recommend sizing up a half size. They also come in gold or white.

Even though I have silver boots, I decided to wear all sorts of metals with my brooch, earrings, and bracelet. It’s such a modern way to mix and match.

BTW, this “brooch” was made by my friend, Gurmeet. Check out her Etsy site for fabulous pieces that are affordable.

Thank you
