Bonanza For What To Wear In Fall With 1 Blazer
I always think many of our items can be more versatile than we originally thought. That’s why I came up with this idea to showcase what to wear in fall with 1 blazer and yet 10 different looks.
Quote of the day: This Facebook video – @Sustainableminimalists
The jacket featured here is a mix of rich autumnal hues—browns, oranges, greens—that evoke the vibe of the season. It’s the perfect piece to elevate the idea of what to wear in the fall.
It was an easy, 10-minute task to pull out 10 different dresses that would work seamlessly with this blazer. In fact, I didn’t even try them on until we took the photos, so if something is wonky, that’s why.
Insider tip: Don’t overthink it. Just hold your blazer up to every dress you have and see how it looks.
If you have a color-cohesive closet, then almost every solid color dress will combine with every blazer you own.
What to Wear in Fall-Blazer Style
Blazers or jackets are the perfect topper for what to wear in fall. It’s an easy Exercise to throw one over your summer dresses or tops, and ta-da, you’re set.
Insider tip: Don’t automatically tune out blazers if you’re retired because they can be unstructured and knit and thus feel just like a sweatshirt jacket. Comfy and functional are key points.
This blazer was purchased from my favorite local boutique, Just Be Youtiful sometime last year. While she wouldn’t have the exact one now, it would behoove you to follow her FB page and ask to sign up for her email.
Both places are great ways to see the new items in her boutique and she will ship in the US.
Insider tip: I may call Just Be Youtiful a boutique, but her prices are budget-oriented.
So let’s explore what to wear in fall with this one blazer and show you a variety of options, in no particular order.
1. Red Dress
A vibrant red dress might seem like a bold choice for a patterned blazer, but when done right, it’s absolutely stunning. Red and brown complement each other, creating a striking contrast. The earthy tones of the blazer calm the intensity of the red, balancing the look.
Insider tip: Just think about the trees you see in autumn and how red is one of the dominant leaf colors. That’s the “aha” moment for this color combination.
2. White or Ivory Dress
The crispness of a white or ivory dress is always a great contrast with brown. This pairing gives off a chic and clean aesthetic, allowing the blazer to truly shine as the statement piece.
Insider tip: For those of you who think a belt cuts off the longer vertical line of an outfit and makes you look shorter, then you’d be in the minority when it came to asking which look is better in this side by side video.
3. Yellow Dress
Along the same lines as the red dress and thinking about the autumn leaves on a tree, this bright yellow works wonderfully.
Even though my dress is a lemon yellow color, other shades of yellow would be just as beautiful including mustard yellow or gold.
Insider tip: This reminder about shades of colors is true for each and every one of the options I’ve presented. Each color has multiple shades and values that can give off different vibes.
4. Denim Dress
A denim dress is a year-round staple, and in fall, it pairs like a dream with this patterned blazer.
You can think about the dichotomy with this outfit for what to wear in fall by considering how the denim dress casualizes the idea of a blazer.
Since we are comfortable pairing denim with any and every color, this is a slam dunk.
5. Tan Dress
Neutrals in fall are always a good idea, and a tan dress paired with this print blazer creates a subtle yet sophisticated look. The tan is almost like the white dress– providing the perfect base for the jacket’s bold pattern to take center stage but in a more muted way.
6. Orange Dress
Orange is another one of those autumnal colors that you see on the changing trees. That’s why this color combination is so cohesive.
Insider tip: Notice I haven’t discussed proportions with this blazer + different dresses. While that can be important in the overall look, I wanted this to be about expanding your thoughts with color combinations for what to wear in fall.
7. Bright Pink Dress
For those who love a little pop of color, a bright pink dress adds a fun and unexpected twist. While it may seem like a spring or summer color, pink can work beautifully in fall when anchored by rich, earthy tones like the ones in this blazer.
Insider tip: If you consider brown boring, then bright pink is the perfect way to give it more sass. Think contrasting colors as shown with the white and yellow dress also.
8. Lilac Dress
Lilac is often associated with spring, but there’s something so whimsical about transitioning this pastel hue into your fall wardrobe.
This may be a color combination you would have never thought to put together. I didn’t until I held the blazer next to the dress and thought it would work nicely.
Insider tip: If you worry that two colors look unintentional, then add accessories that pull them together. For example, a wood necklace and lilac earrings would be perfect.
9. Olive Green Dress
Olive green is a quintessential fall color, and it plays so well with the earthy palette of the jacket. This hue of olive green is a lighter version with a warm undertone.
It’s also linen which many women put away once the calendar says autumn. Yet linen can be just as wonderful for what to wear in fall, especially when you are layering and it’s not very cold yet.
10. Burgundy Dress
Burgundy and brown are a match made in autumn heaven. A deep burgundy dress paired with this blazer creates a harmonious look, where both pieces bring out the best in each other. The richness of the burgundy enhances the warm tones in the jacket, while the pattern adds visual interest.
Insider tip: In reality, burgundy is just a darker shade of red so since we loved the blazer with a red dress, then a burgundy dress was a no-brainer option.
Final Thoughts on What to Wear in Fall
I could have shown even more options to pair with this blazer. It’s seriously a fabulous basic that would look amazing with other colors and even print dresses.
These ideas are all about bringing a personal twist to every outfit and embracing your unique style. Don’t get waylaid into thinking you have to dress like everyone else.
