See the Great Companies We’re Considering at the October Impact Cherub Club Meeting
I’m not a financial advisor; nothing I write in Superpowers for Good should be considered investment advice. You should seek appropriate counsel before making investment decisions.
As we gear up for the 1:00 PM Eastern, October 15, meeting of the Impact Cherub Club, we invite you to join us. The club meets to review impact investments everyone is eligible to make and virtually anyone can afford. We share responsibility for completing basic due diligence before making investments. While members are encouraged to invest in the Club’s picks, no one is required to invest.
The Club is open to all “Impact Members” of the SuperCrowd (our paying subscribers). I don’t touch the Money members invest. They do so directly for their own accounts. We benefit from new members by the fresh perspectives they bring and our growing social impact. Please join us!
Next Meeting—October 15, at 1:00 PM Eastern
At our next meeting on October 15, at 1:00 PM Eastern/10:00 AM Pacific, consistent with our plans for future sessions, the agenda will have three items:
Diligence Reports
Education Moment
Preliminary Consideration of New Candidate Investments
I’ll review those items in reverse order.
New Company Consideration
After some preliminary screening, I’ve shared some candidate offerings with the members of the club to choose which we’ll review this month. Members chose the following:
Agua Bonita
Agua Bonita, based in Hanford, CA, is raising funds on Wefunder via a convertible note with a $7.2 million valuation cap. The company offers real fruit aguas frescas and has achieved significant Growth, expanding from 200 to over 1,000 Retail locations, including Whole Foods and Target. They’ve surpassed $1 million in lifetime revenue and are backed by investors like Cher and climate-focused funds. The team is diverse, with a minority workforce, and the investment minimum is $100.
GRYT Health
GRYT Health, based in Rochester, NY, is raising funds on Wefunder with an $18 million pre-money valuation. Founded by Cancer survivors and caregivers, the company offers a patient engagement platform that works with top pharmaceutical and biotech companies to provide clinical trial patient activation, patient experience research, and engagement services. With over $12 million in booked revenue and a $5 million sales pipeline, GRYT Health focuses on improving access to cancer treatments and equitable care. The minimum investment is $100.
Education Moment
At this meeting, I’ll give members an update on the performance of the companies we’ve backed as a club over the past three years. We’ve voted to invest in 39 different companies. I’ll report on the investment results we’ve seen so far, remembering that most were equity-type investments that will take a decade or more to mature and harvest.
Diligence Reports
We’ll begin with the due diligence reports from the Impact Cherub Club members who volunteered to research the companies after we briefly learned a bit about them last month. After hearing the members’ reports, we’ll vote to determine whether or not to recommend investment in the companies. The decision will be made available to all Impact Cherub Club members, including those who don’t attend this month. Register here.
Here are the companies we’ll learn more about this month:
Solar for Smith’s Supermarket
Smith’s Supermarket in Altha, Florida, is raising funds through a regulated investment crowdfund offering to install 492 solar panels, producing 253,851 kWh annually. Supported by a USDA grant, this project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and foster energy independence. Investors can earn a 10 percent annual return over a two-year term, with a goal of $1 million to fully fund the solar installation. This project benefits both the environment and the local community. For more details, visit Climatize Earth.
Halcium Energy
Halcium Energy is raising funds on Wefunder to develop the PowerPod, a small wind turbine designed for urban use. It has no external moving parts, is omnidirectional, and captures wind from various directions. The product aims to offer a clean energy alternative to solar power for homes and businesses. With over 40,000 people signed up for updates and 3,000 ready to become distributors, the company is targeting the $285 billion distributed energy market, which is projected to grow to $918 billion by 2032.
