I came up with the idea for what to wear with a white skirt when the Ageless Style group prompt was a white skirt or dress with bright colors.

My crew came up with 3 variations of white skirts that include above-the-knee, below-the-knee as well as a maxi skirt. Then I had us concentrate on colors from one side of the color wheel, the other side of the color wheel, and then a combination of both.
I figured that would give you options galore.

And if you don’t appreciate a skirt or dress, these color combinations can work just as easily with white pants or jeans.

I always think that the advantage of pairing anything with white is how it pops the other color since it’s a bright neutral.

Fundamentals for What to Wear with a White Skirt

While white used to be considered a summer color only, it is now appropriate to wear it all year long.

Yet the summer is the perfect time to think about combining brights as what to wear with a white skirt. Even if it’s not a pure white skirt, brights are an obvious choice in the hotter weather.

Since white is a neutral, you can pair absolutely anything with it including different shades of white like beige or ivory.

BTW, I used the terms “warm” and “cool” colorways of the color wheel as taught traditionally (explained in this article).
However, warm and cool can be interpreted in different ways also. We will keep it simple for today’s idea of what colors to wear with a white skirt.
Warm colors will be reds, yellows, and oranges.
Cool colors will be blues, greens, and purples.

Charlotte-Warm Colorway with a White Skirt

From the “warm” colors on the half of the color wheel, my mom chose to wear red.

Red is an incredible color that many women shy away from. It’s bold and beautiful which is why I think more of us should wear it.

Charlotte kept it simple with a red t-shirt tucked into her white skirt. Granted her skirt has a boatload of character due to the embroidery on the hemline.

BTW, this is my mom’s favorite way to wear this skirt as seen previously. Although in the past, she did wear it in a dressed-up fashion.

There are so many fabulous colors in this embroidery on the skirt that you could pair all the colors with it.

For our photoshoot that day, we were taking a walking tour of Amazon, which is why my mom wore flats and thought to carry her clear purse.

Jodie-Cool Side of the Color Wheel with a White Skirt

With my outfit to showcase what to wear with a white skirt, I chose something where the majority of colors are from the “cool” side of the color wheel.

My “top” is a scarf inspired by an influencer’s video. I could have worn it without another top under it but I wanted to make sure it stayed put since this was the first time I had tried this trick.

My version of the top is a tad different. Obviously, one side is hanging lower than the other side, but I’m not sure why. It’s real life is all I can say.
But in the original scarf made into a top, she used pins to hold the ends together. For my version, I used magnets instead.

Insider tip: My pink magnet in the front basically disappears because it matches the scarf. You can find a variety of decorative magnets on Amazon if you don’t love the gold/silver ones that I usually showcase.

I included more bright colors in my look with my sneakers, earrings, and glasses. And the backpack. This was the one I picked up on our scavenger hunt at Goodwill.

BTW, crew socks are making a comeback, and considering that we’ve been wearing no-show socks for so long, it may take some time to get used to the different look.
One thing that could help is to find higher socks that aren’t as obvious. The pair I’m wearing is somewhat sheer except at the top where there have pearl decorations.

Lesley-Combining Both Warm and Cool Colors in a Print

Lesley found this amazing print top that combines both “warm” and “cool” colors together as what to wear with a white skirt.

She told me that when she bought the top it was called a crop top. Yet considering that she is short-waisted, it hits exactly at her waist which reduces the amount of material to tuck in or have hanging.

Insider tip: You may think you are too old to wear a crop top, but Lesley is showing exactly why we need to stop going by the description and just try things on. There are other ways to wear a crop top too.

The white skirt acts as a fabulous backdrop to show off the colorful top and then Lesley is accessorized with red shoes, a tote, and a bracelet.
