I was 19 when “Beat It” was released.

I was 19 when “Beat It” came out.

Alison, who teaches Zumba at @eosfitness wasn’t even born yet.

I started dancing at 23, which is considered late, but I’ve loved it ever since. Alison and I met in her Zumba class. She’s French, I’m Spanish, and technically I could be her mother. But we have a very similar energy and zest for life.

Alison also does capoeira and bodybuilding. I’m more focused on pull-ups and Yoga these days. Different things, same Love of movement.

That’s what I still love about dancing and even Zumba. It’s not just Exercise. You have to remember, react, coordinate, listen, move with the music, and laugh when you make a mistake (we have a bunch of bloopers).

Research shows dance and dance-like moves can support balance, coordination, memory, mood and cognitive function as we age. At 62, I appreciate that.
