Lesson – When a jiu-jitsu instructor feels pressure to submit all his students in order to have their respect, he is setting himself up for a some rough times.
One day the student will avoid defeat and most likely submit the instructor. This is natural, it’s also natural for someone with amazing insights and experience to be able to teach what they know into old age.
As instructors we need to be dedicated to learning and growing, most importantly we need to build our identity around who we help and build… not who we can submit.
