Five Questions To Create Clarity In Your Business

Recently I read an email about the five questions every business owner should ask themselves to create clarity in their business – plus a why question.

Funny thing is they are the same five questions I suggest people ask when listening to familiar information if they want to create wealth. (Instead of making statements.)

More funny: They are the same five questions children in grammar school are supposed to be taught to answer when writing an article.

At my advanced age (75) I don’t know what they teach in grammar school anymore. I know they don’t teach critical thinking. Just look at who we elect into politics.

Anyway, let me show you the five questions and how to use them. The five questions start with:

  • What
  • When
  • Where
  • Who
  • How
  • but not Why

An example would be if I suggested to you that to start the creation of wealth you need to pay yourself first; treat yourself like you matter; be first in line for the money you earn; set aside 10% of each dollar you receive to keep for the rest of your life.

You might say, “I’ve heard that before” or “That’s not new to me.”

I don’t care if you’ve heard it before, ARE YOU DOING IT?

If not, ask the five wealth building that start with the list above.

  • What should I do with the money when I pay myself first?
  • When will I begin to pay myself first?
  • Where should I invest the money?
  • Who can help me with this?
  • How do I begin?

I’m not going to go into why the “why” question is useless. If you want to know, send an email to me.

If you are starting or growing, or pivoting in a business, you would use those same questions, and maybe ask why.

Examples:

  • Who do you want to serve? Or Who can help me make the change, help me grow, give me input…?
  • What talents do I have, that I enjoy using?
  • When do I need to (or can I) make the change?
  • Where can I find the resources I need? Where do I want to work?
  • How will I serve my clients?
  • Why do I want to go into this business, or pivot, or grow or…?

Statements do not lead to action. Questions can lead to both the answers you need and the actions you need to take.
