What I mean by Warm Connections

Building Connections: Will They Come If You Build It?

In today’s world, where almost anyone can be reached through a digital platform, the art of connection has taken on new meaning. But if you dream of reaching your big G O A L S, will they simply happen like Hollywood wants us to believe? Not without putting in the work.

Many believe that manifestation and journal prompts alone will bring results, but turning dreams into reality requires action and consistency.

The Importance of Intentional Outreach

Your connection approach matters. A casual email can go unnoticed, especially in a saturated digital landscape. But there’s a key insight here: if someone is being interviewed, has published something, or has been featured, they’ve likely paid for that visibility or at least actively sought it out. In other words, they want to be noticed.

Pro Tip: Make your outreach specific and personal. Referencing a quote for example or a product highlight is a simple gesture showing their work, not just sending out a blanket message.

How Rare It Is – And Why It Works

You’d be surprised how few people take the time to research and reference specific work when reaching out. A recent connection I made emailed me back letting me know she “is not a robot, but actually read my email’. People are more likely to respond to those who’ve demonstrated an understanding of their craft and are interested in building a relationship rather than just seeking a favor.

Pro Tip: Make outreach a habit. For example, once a week, I personally reach out to authors, musicians, or others who inspire me. I’ll reference a book they’ve written or an interview I’ve come across. If we share any connections, I’ll (with permission) mention mutual friends or professional overlap. It’s all about making the connection personal and relevant.

What Comes Next

If you receive a reply, it opens the door to further engagement. Be prepared to share your own work in a way that highlights your professional presence. Consider sending a professional media kit or bio that showcases your strengths and experience. And if you don’t have a reply ready, don’t worry—having a well-crafted, modern cover letter can also be a powerful tool in showcasing what you bring to the table.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Manifestation Requires Action: Goals and connections aren’t achieved just by dreaming; they need to be built with consistent effort.

  2. Personalization is Key: Reference specific work, like an article or an interview, when reaching out to people. It shows you’re thoughtful and genuine.

  3. Build Relationships, Not Just Networks: Your goal should be meaningful relationships. Take time to connect with people who inspire you by making it a weekly habit.

  4. Be Ready to Share Your Work: If you get a reply, send over your professional bio or media kit to further the relationship and showcase your value.

In the end, it’s not just about building something and hoping others will come—it’s about making the first move, putting in the work, and showing people why they should come along for the journey.
