Tried & Tested Ideas For What To Wear In Arizona In November

When it comes to fashion, what to wear in Arizona in November can be a struggle. There can be a 30-40 degree variation from morning to day to evening along with the arid environment. Functionally, this means layers are your best friend. Dressing for this time of year allows you to play with textures, colors, and accessories to create outfits that are functional and fun.

In today’s post, we’re diving into three fabulous looks that showcase how to style for Arizona’s unique November weather. The three of us were exploring outdoor trails at a local arboretum and thus had to take many factors into account.

Quote of the day: “Forever is composed of nows.” Emily Dickenson

The biggest detail you will notice is the layering and the unplanned notion that we all wore black for the bottom half of our looks.

Even though layering is a necessity–even here in Arizona it doesn’t have to mean bulky! Thinking about how the weather will change over 30 degrees from sunup to sundown means you will be removing layers along the way.

Insider tip: “Feeling” temperature is subjective, but the other huge factor here in Arizona is the lack of humidity. Humidity can make you feel warmer at certain temperatures, which means that 60 degrees in San Antonio, Texas seemed much warmer than 60 degrees in Phoenix, Arizona.

I have talked about Arizona’s weather in the past if you want more information

Neutrals with a Pop of Color-Valerie

Valerie’s outfit is a masterclass in neutral layering with an artistic twist. A textured cream coatigan brings both sophistication and warmth to the look, perfect for those brisk Arizona mornings. Underneath it is a simple white hoodie to keep things fresh and light. This base layer is perfect for midday when the sun is shining and you want to peel off the outerwear.

What truly elevates this outfit is the accessorizing! The statement red headband adds a playful splash of color while tying in with the bold red tote bag. Speaking of that bag—its woven texture adds an artisan feel that mirrors the creative energy of Arizona’s landscape. The black pants keep the look grounded, and the red shoes tie everything together beautifully.

Another great accessory is the long necklace that works so well with the long coatigan. If you remove the coatigan throughout the day, it’s smart to think about how to shorten the necklace to change the proportions of the look.

Insider tip: If you prefer to wear neutrals, make sure you have a variety of colorful sneakers and accessories to liven up the look.

Athleisure with a Colorful Flair-Charlotte

Charlotte’s look is the epitome of casual comfort with a trendy twist. Athleisure has been a dominating fashion trend, and this outfit shows how to make it feel stylish yet functional. The zip-up jacket is lightweight yet warm, ideal for a layered Arizona outfit.

The darker panels on the side give it the illusion of shape to counteract bulkiness. Beneath it, the red top adds a vibrant contrast, brightening the look and making it perfect for our daytime activities.

The scarf is the unsung hero here. Its bold pattern adds interest to the outfit while doubling as a practical piece you can adjust as the temperature changes. Pairing these layers with comfortable, yet whimsical joggers (check out the embroidery on the side) and sturdy shoes creates an outfit ready for walking tours and casual hikes.

And can we talk about that bright orange crossbody bag? It’s an effortless way to incorporate color while remaining hands-free—a must for a day out.

Insider tip: Make sure to mix athleisure with vibrant accessories to create a look that’s practical yet stylish. Just because you are wearing athleisure wear doesn’t mean you have to look like you’re going to the gym.
Instead of leaving the scarf hanging down since you already have the vertical dimensions with the open cardigan, it’s nice to wrap it closer around your neck to add focus to your face.

Shorts for What to Wear in Arizona in Winter-Jodie

My outfit is a mix of cozy textures and festive vibes. The star of the show is the oversized sweater with its playful pumpkin graphic that reads “Simply Blessed”. Not only is it seasonally appropriate, but the loose fit makes it perfect for layering over thinner pieces like a collared leopard-print top, and a charcoal fleece top under that.

Insider tip: If you are a minimalist when it comes to accessories, then sweaters like this are the way to go. It is interesting and you don’t need a necklace or scarf to add personality to it.

Faux leather shorts and fleece-lined tights are an unexpected but chic combination for Arizona’s mild November climate. I find that I wear more shorts in the winter by combining warm tights and taller boots so I can have the best of both worlds.

The finishing touch? These metallic pink cowboy boots! They are such a fun nod to Western style while also making a bold fashion statement.

The pink knit beanie ties everything together, offering both warmth and a soft color palette that complements the outfit. Paired with a floral backpack, this look is whimsical and undeniably an example of what to wear in Arizona in November.

Insider tip: Don’t be afraid to mix sequins, metallic, and prints together. There was a time in your childhood when you didn’t know the idea of “too much” and it can serve you well even as an adult.

Tips for What to Wear in Arizona in November

As stated before, what to wear in Arizona in November is all about remembering how there can be a 30-degree difference between the mornings and afternoons. Here’s how to master the art of dressing for this season:

  1. Start with a Base Layer: Opt for breathable tops that can stand alone during warmer midday hours.
  2. Add a Mid-Layer: Sweaters, cardigans, or jackets are essential for staying warm as the day cools down. Choose pieces with interesting textures or patterns to add personality to your outfit.
  3. Bring an Outer Layer: A lightweight coat or jacket is a must for the chilly mornings and evenings.
  4. Accessories Are Key: Hats, scarves, and gloves aren’t just for functionality—they’re also a great way to add a pop of color or pattern to your outfit.
  5. Shoes & Socks Matter: Comfortable footwear is essential, especially if you’re exploring outdoors. Sneakers, ankle boots, or even stylish cowboy boots can add flair while keeping your feet happy. And don’t forget that socks are an essential layering item.

Insider tip: Socks are not just important to keep your feet warm but also as moisture control. For those of you who love the idea of no-show socks, my favorite brand has fleece and wool varieties for the winter.

Arizona in November is a style lover’s dream. The mild yet fluctuating weather allows for creative layering and accessorizing, as seen in these three fabulous outfits. From playful graphics to bold colors and practical layers, there’s no limit to how you can mix and match for this unique season.
