The Best of 2024 For Jodie’s Touch of Style
As 2024 winds down, I love looking back at everything that made this year special for Jodie’s Touch of Style. This year has been a whirlwind of fun, fashion, and community connection, from Google’s favorite blog posts to the products you couldn’t stop raving about, and even the social media moments that sparked the most engagement. Let’s take a walk down memory lane and celebrate the highlights together.
Quote of the day: “Life is not what one lived, but what one remembers and how one remembers it.” Gabriel Garcia Marquez
As much as I love my site, Jodie’s Touch of Style, I really enjoy putting together my daily emails. I consider my emails an extension of my blog, chocked full of positive inspiration that one friend calls a “Variety Show.”
I include articles, videos, and posts that strike my fancy and since I have no siblings to share with, I share with you.
Insider info: If daily emails are too much, you can opt to just get them on Saturday. I appreciate any support.
Top Blog Posts of 2024
This year I discussed various themes and trends on my site and wanted to share what was popular.
The first two were popular by Google standards. Both articles were posted in 2023 but gained traction in 2024.
Dress Too Short? Here’s How to Wear it
I’m a firm believer that we can be the boss of our clothes and this article has 6 fabulous examples. In fact, the last idea was Rob’s.
How to Wear a Denim Skirt Over 50
With the rise of the longer denim skirts for the younger crowd, I wanted to show how perfect it was for older women too. These outfits were photographed in the summer of 2023 and thus I am planning to showcase a winter version soon.
Popular As Shared By You
The next 4 articles were the ones that were shared by you the most. I consider that the best way to support a content creator.
Wearing a White Dress in the Fall
I consider it neglect to ignore clothing because of its color and the season. That’s why I had Cathie, mom and I showcase wearing a white dress for the fall season.
How to Wear Zebra Print
I was pleasantly surprised that styling zebra print was such a favorite. Does that mean I need to include zebra print more often?
Daily Looks
Then I was also excited to see many of you shared images from 2 different Daily Outfit posts. I think these are not only a fun way to push myself to wear different colors and items throughout the week, but there is also another reason that even YOU should take daily photos.
Our brain perceives our image in a mirror differently than in a photo. So taking a photo of your outfit every day can give you a different perspective.
Insider tip: If you think your outfit isn’t photo-worthy, then maybe it’s time to wear some of your “better” clothes even on the days that you’re just hanging around the house.
How does it hurt?
I believe it can help by making you feel better.
Daily Outfits: Week Ending 9.27.24
I have to admit that this week was a fun one as I layered 2 dresses in summer as well as bossed around a long tunic to create an unusual design.
My favorite of the week was on Friday with my fringy overdress.
Daily Outfits: Week Ending 10.11.24
I was beyond excited to copy this incredible idea of making your own statement necklace with a chain necklace and different brooches. I think that is what everyone shared.
FYI-I will be posting more about this idea soon.
Of course, that wasn’t the only outfit I loved out of this week. My Tai Chi look was a favorite because it included a knitted top that I had just finished as well as the shorts and blazer look on Wednesday that had Rob drooling.
Products of 2024
Every year, I’m fortunate to introduce you to some fabulous finds. I wanted to share a couple of my favorite standouts from the year as well as some of the most loved products that you purchased.
My Favorites:
Hands-free shoes have been my favorite discovery of the year. Especially when my fingers were too swollen to put on my shoes.
The 2 brands that I’ve tried:
Drew Shoe Corporation
and
Custom Made Clothing with Sumissura
I finally found another company that custom-makes clothing to fit your body. While they aren’t as inexpensive as eShakti, they are reasonable for quality clothing that doesn’t need to be altered.
Your Favorites:
Cariuma is known for its eco-friendly practices which are truly amazing if what they say is true. And the canvas sneakers are reasonably priced considering what you can pay with other brands. The cork insole makes them comfy, but I have learned that I need to size up a half size for them to feel good on my feet.
I would not recommend these for women with wider feet.
I just can’t resist when they send out an email with $30 off.
Striped Tee
I find some amazing deals when searching my affiliate program site. While this striped tee isn’t available anymore, here are others under $25.
Insider tip: Stripes are an easy basic when working on print mixing skills.
Social Media Moments That Stood Out
Social media continues to be a way to connect in real-time, share quick tips, and have fun with fashion. Here are the best of 2024 from my different social media sites:
Facebook Vidoe–Bow Tying Made Easy
Instagram Video–Playing Hide my T-shirt
YouTube video–Be the Boss of Your Clothes
I haven’t posted much on YouTube this year as you can see by the low numbers of views on this video.

What Made 2024 Special
Beyond the blog posts, products, and social media, what truly made 2024 stand out was you. This is my 10th year of blogging and many of you joined me in a blog post by sharing the ideas/concepts or products that I’ve shared and that you have embraced.
For those of you who couldn’t or didn’t join in, I appreciated the emails and just the fact you continue to read my ramblings and continue to open my emails.
Insider tip: A reminder that my site and my emails aren’t just about clothes—it’s about connection.
Even though I call myself a Pollyanna, I am also a realist. That means I realize that not everything was hunky dory in 2024. Therefore, I’ll be sharing the Worst of 2024 later this week.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As we step into the new year, I can’t wait to bring you even more inspiration whether it’s fashion, beauty, or health-related. My goal remains the same: to make style fun and accessible for everyone. As well as realizing that our style includes our insides (and our furry friends).
