5 Peri Symptoms No One Talks About

5 Peri Symptoms No One Talks About &Raquo; B

1. Body odor: When estrogen levels drop, your body thinks it’s overheating. So you sweat more. And if you’ve got a lot of cortisol in your system, that may cause Stress sweat – it creates more bacteria and more smell.
Action: Use a cooling mist and fan. Eliminate spicy foods, garlic, and sugar. Use Lume deodorant.

2. Metallic taste in your mouth and a burning feeling around the gums: A lack of estrogen affects taste buds because it dries up saliva.
Action: Try supplementing for a possible zinc deficiency, drink plenty of water.

3. Belching and farting:The digestive system slows down, and food sits in the gut much longer and stores up gases. Stress can also turn off the digestive system. Hormone changes cause changes in the gut, and that changes how it digests food.
Action: Chew your food well. Enzymes in the saliva will help to break down the food better. Sitting up straight gives free passage to food in the gut. Avoid dairy and wheat as it is inflammatory. Peppermint tea after a meal also helps the digestive system.

4. Creepy crawly skin: Skin can feel tingly, itchy or prickly.
Action: HRT can ramp up estrogen to alleviate itchy feeling and restore moisture. Alternatively, take an antihistamine before bed. Moisturizing the skin is good – Aveeno, Active Naturals, Anti-Itch Concentrated Lotion is good (blue cap). Avoid sugars as they enhance itchiness.

5. Pelvic Floor Problems: You’re getting urgent sensations to pee, but not much comes. You start to be incontinent, or you’re getting repeated urinary tract infections (UTIs). Low estrogen affects the resilience of the muscles in the sling that makes up the pelvic floor.
Action: Start some pelvic floor exercises to strengthen the layers of muscles. For most women this can make a dramatic difference in just 2-3 weeks.

Dyna held leadership positions in the technology sector where she worked for over 20 years.

But that changed after reflecting on the unnecessarily rough ride she endured going through perimenopause. Dyna is now a certified health and nutrition coach who refused to give in after her doctor, dietician and trainer gave ineffective advice on how to navigate perimenopause. Turning to the women’s aging research, she figured things out and now helps women through their symptoms using a lifestyle approach so they can wake up energized each morning. Symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, hot flashes, joint pain, headaches, anxiety, sleep issues and more can all be managed. Dyna is a caring coach, a sought after guest on lifestyle podcasts and a blogger. She also advises progressive organizations on introducing a menopause policy into the workplace.
