Why I stopped moving long enough to hear myself think — and built an entire program around it
Let me tell you something I don’t say lightly: I have lived most of my life at full speed.
Different countries. Different careers. Different versions of myself, each one moving faster than the last. I said yes to everything. I crossed oceans, I built things, launched things, relaunched things, and kept going because going was what I knew.
And for a long time, I genuinely believed that momentum was progress.
Then one day — not dramatically, not all at once, but quietly and undeniably — I hit a wall. Not a Burnout wall exactly. More like… a fog. The kind where you’re doing all the right things and still can’t quite see the path. Where the noise of your own life becomes so loud you can’t hear yourself think anymore.
That’s when I asked myself a question that changed everything:
Who am I when the noise stops?
I didn’t have an answer. And that terrified me. And thrilled me. And sent me on a journey I hadn’t planned but desperately needed.
The retreat I never went on — and the program it became
I wanted a silent retreat. I craved it in my bones. That particular hunger for stillness that arrives when you’ve been too loud for too long.
What I discovered — through my own practice of transcendental Meditation, through years of working with women at crossroads, through simply paying attention — is that the mind’s natural state is peace. Not productivity. Not performance. Peace.
We don’t need to achieve stillness. We need to stop preventing it.
And most of us are preventing it every single day — with our scrolling, our scheduling, our gloriously exhausting commitment to doing.
I’m not pointing fingers. I did it too. I still catch myself doing it. But here’s what I now know for certain:
Nothing meaningful changes without space. Not decisions. Not directions. Not you.
That realisation became Time Out — the practice I wish I’d allowed myself twenty years ago, and the one I now offer to others.
So what exactly is Time Out?
It’s not Therapy. I want to be clear about that. It’s not a twelve-week program with homework and a workbook and a certificate at the end.
It’s something simpler and, I’d argue, rarer: a held human space where you can actually think.
Because here’s the thing nobody tells you when you’re stuck, scattered, or standing at a crossroads: you usually already know the answer. You just can’t hear it. The noise — external and internal — is too loud.
Time Out turns the volume down. And in that quiet, things become remarkably clear.
There are three ways to experience it:
Talk It Out — Strategic Sparring Sessions
Think of this as the conversation you desperately need but can’t quite have with your partner, your best friend, or your colleague — because they’re all too close to it.
You download everything swirling in your head. You say the things you haven’t said anywhere else. You get gently, honestly challenged by someone who is fully present, has no agenda, and is genuinely listening.
You leave with perspective, direction, and next steps.
Not because I gave them to you. Because the space gave them back to you.

Guided Quiet Reflection — 1:1 and Group
This one surprises people. Especially the group version.
Imagine sitting in silence — cameras on, but quiet. No chatter. No performance. Just people, together, being still. Fifteen minutes to land and download. Thirty minutes of held silence. Fifteen minutes to surface insights and move forward.
It sounds simple. It is profound.
