Special Performances
The opportunity to bring artists, musicians and healers together for some collaboration is a true gift. With Music of the Landscape magic happened.
As part of the Celtic Colours International Festival Community Event, we were able to bring together the artwork of Doug Fraser, Page Simon, Daniel Kazimierski, and Eirinn Lewis. Donna Hutchison, on harp, shared the incredible compositions of Anne Crosby Gaudet that fit the landscapes, while Colin MacLeod, a fiddler from Scotland, played intuitively with the art. Dr Michelle Greenwell, a tea artist, shared three unique tea blends that highlighted the power of the performances. The spoken word was delivered by poet Mairi Greenwood. It was a magical event held at the Hillsborough-Glendyer hall on October 16, 2024.
It was suggested after the event that a Tai Chi set would be beautiful to the music and poetry of Donna and Mairi. Michelle headed down to the beach on the last night of Celtic Colours, and watched the sun go down while doing Tai Chi, with a Lok Hup Set. It was the perfect match to the music created. Michelle is a part of Tai Chi Cape Breton and a member of the board with the Wine Country Tai Chi Society in West Kelowna, BC. Tai Chi outdoors is wonderful, and the addition of the sound of the waves adds to this recording.
We hope you enjoy the power of movement and music to bring calmness to you, and to create a sense of peace that can hold you long after the performance is done. At the Greenwell Center for Holistic Health we endeavor to provide special events to experience how easy it is to relax into an experience and create wellness for your self. Dr Michelle enjoys providing BioEnergetic Wellness learning for everyone.
As explorers of NeuroArts, we are delighted by the shifting of Consciousness, energy, and vitality that can happen with a performance like this. As the audience shifted in their seat, sat up taller, took deeper breaths, adjusted their neck position to drop the chin, and grinned with the sharing, it was an acknowledgement that we can make a difference to the quality of life lived when the arts is available and explored.
If you are wondering, the tea shared for this experience was Highland Splendor “From the top of the mountain we are inspired.” This is an organic creamed earl grey with a full bouquet of florals to highlight the highlands of Cape Breton Island. Island VitaliTEA “Be inspired by the power of nature that surrounds you, rest, and release into healing.” We explored old self images and the hope of the future. We finished with Mintal ClariTEA “When we know where we are going, the path clears and we can focus on the little things that matter most.” This final tea provided a way to integrate new ideas, be grounded, and create a calm for moving forward. The tea led us on a journey from the Heart Center through the opportunity to voice our ideas and finalizing with opening up to new possibilities. You can find these teas as part of the Harmony Blends in the shop.
