1. #124- Wendy Baker: Was It A Cult? Inside "The Source Family" Commune with A Former Member Jackson Huff 1:16:29

Have you ever heard of “The Source Family” commune? This was a group started in 1969 by Source Restaurant owner Jim Baker. While feeding Hollywood’s rich and famous in his restaurant downstairs, upstairs and in the parking lot after closing he was leading a group of young people into a world where he was was the chosen leader and others were to follow. We speak with one such follower who joined early in “The Family’s” creation in Wendy Baker who left home at 14 years old and began following “Father Yod” as he was later called and did so until his death under interesting circumstances. Through moves to Hollywood mansions, being kidnapped to Hawaii, getting pregnant in the commune at 16, and escaping to lead a seemingly normal life this week you are in for a fascinating journey into a world of charismatic leaders and devoted followers. Was “The Source Family” a cult or a happy go lucky commune? I will let you be the judge.

I am in admissions and advising by profession where I speak with students every day about their future and goals. I have spent a decade learning peoples life stories and what makes them tick. So, a few years ago I decided to take that passion for people and make a podcast. Through this I have been able to speak with a lot of amazing people. People like Bob Eubanks (The Newlywed Game), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), Maddie Musselman (2x Olympic Gold Medalist), Francois Clemmons (Mister Rogers' Neighborhood), and countless others.
