Before I jumped up to the highest neutral-grip pull-up bars, a man nearby smiled and pointed at the grips like, “ You’re going for those?
I don’t think he meant anything by it, but something in me went, well, now I have a point to prove.
So I jumped up and did 5.5 neutral-grip pull-ups, faster than my usual pace.
My son was filming this, and it was the last day he could come to the gym with me before moving away, so I already had feelings.
See my other videos for overhand pull-ups, too, because apparently this has become a whole thing where people call neutral-grip pull-ups "chin-ups" (not true, and who cares anyway) and diminish their importance.
I also don’t always dead hang at the bottom bc at 62 my elbows are tender when I pull back up after a recent injury. 💀
I’ve been training for this for a couple of years, so the strength was already there, but sometimes pressure brings out what practice has been building.
And now I’m wondering where else that’s true. Where else in life can I perform better because I suddenly have a point to prove?
Have you wondered that about yourself too?
