At 58, I tore my rotator cuff, and it became a whole ordeal.
I couldn’t lift heavy. I couldn’t do my regular handstands or arm balances in Yoga. I lost muscle mass, strength, and confidence.
The first clips here were from a paid gig, filmed for a fitness app, and I could barely use the 2-lb dumbbells I’m holding because my shoulders hurt so much.
After a misdiagnosis, a fall that made it worse, and tendinitis in my other shoulder, I eventually started getting better thanks to a great doctor and wonderful physical Therapy.
I went back to the gym slowly and had to learn what my shoulders could and could not handle.
Then, after interviewing @GinnyMacColl, I wondered if maybe I could train for pull-ups.
I honestly did not really believe I could get there.
But now I’m 62, turning 63 in August, doing pull-ups, monkey bars, and Googling Ninja courses near me just for fun.
My body looks different. Healthier and stronger. But my spirit also grew stronger in the process.
If you’re older and dealing with an injury or limitation, I get it. It can take a while to rebuild. But it is possible.
Do you have a comeback story, too?
