Canoo, which had struggled to produce its electric vans and suffered executive departures, previously merged with SPAC Hennessy Capital in 2020 and went public, raising $600 million. However, its financial issues intensified, including a failed partnership with Walmart and unsuccessful manufacturing efforts. The company had also borrowed Money from CEO Tony Aquila’s firm to stay afloat in recent months.
