- Attacking Metabolic Syndrome: The Key May be Just Nine Words Jeff Ostroff 32:38
What if I told you that something called metabolic dysfunction is at the root of such things as fatty liver disease, obesity, kidney malfunction, diabetes, renal failure, cognitive disorders like Alzheimer’s disease and brain fog… and so many other conditions that adversely affect our health and well-being? And, of greater significance, what if you knew what to do to prevent or reverse metabolic dysfunction?
Well, that’s what we’re going to be speaking about on the next two episodes of Health Care on the Horizon with our guest expert, Dr. Robert Lustig.
On this first episode with Dr. Lustig, he’ll share his knowledge and expertise about such things as: (1) what is metabolic syndrome and what causes it, (2) how many people are affected by metabolic syndrome, and what impact it has on our bodies, (3) how do you know if YOU have metabolic syndrome, and (4) what role the food we eat has on metabolic syndrome—spoiler alert—it’s HUGE.. We’ll also learn about some projects Dr. Lustig is involved with that are designed to help us improve our metabolic health.
Dr. Robert H. Lustig, M.D., M.S.L. is Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology and a Member of the Institute for Health Policy Studies at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Lustig is a neuroendocrinologist, with expertise in metabolism, obesity, and nutrition. He is one of the leaders of the current “anti-sugar” movement that is changing the food industry. He received his Masters of Studies in Law (MSL) degree at University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2013.
