  1. A Rainbow Sent from the Other Side with Rev. Patty Furino and Dave Roberts Emily Thiroux Threatt 38:22

Sometimes, the only thing between us and experiencing happiness after a loss is ourselves. In many cases, the easiest way to put a smile back on our faces is simply opening up to new things, experiences, and beliefs.

In today’s special episode, the amazing Rev. Patty Furino and Dave Roberts join us to share their incredible story, in which science and critical thinking found a middle ground with spirituality.

Rev. Patty is a Spiritual Counselor and Minister, passionate about helping others understand life and death based on the multiple perspectives she learned while studying near-death experiences, energy exchange, Native American spirituality, animal medicine, and the quantum mechanics of healing.

Dave is a Master of Social Work, a Licensed Master of Social Work, a retired addiction professional, and a Psychology professor who experienced the death of a child when his 18-year-old daughter, Jeannine, died from cancer.

Throughout our conversation, Rev. Patty and Dave share the story behind the creation of the book they co-authored, “When The Psychology Professor Met The Minister.” You’ll also hear about the message Rev. Patty received from the other side that merged their lives, Dave’s process of opening up to new possibilities and ideas, their thoughts on the power of curiosity, and more.

Emily Thiroux Threatt Podcast Host, Facilitator, Author

Having gone through the experience of the deaths of so many loved ones, I have learned to face life with love, optimism, and joy.

I have kept journals and written to express myself most of my life which led me to a career of teaching writing and writing books. I naturally turned to writing to help deal with my grief, then I discovered I could use writing to help friends deal with grief, too.

In contemplating how I could best help the grieving people I was working with, my Ignite moment came when realized the importance of helping people understand the importance of happiness and how they could grieve and be happy at the same time.

To share my message, I host the Grief and Happiness podcast, I wrote the book Loving and Living Your Way Though Grief, I facilitate weekly meetings of the Grief and Happiness Alliance, I founded the Grief and Happiness nonprofit foundation, I publish a weekly newsletter and blog, and my new book, The Grief and Happiness Handbook is coming out soon.
