About Brianna:
MY TESTIMONY
I was born and raised in Texas. I graduated with a B.S. in Psychology, a minor in Sociology, and a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health from Midwestern State University where I also played soccer and ran track. As a child, sports were everything to me. I have been an athlete since the age of four years old. Playing sports, especially soccer, helped me cope with life’s challenges. Little did I know, in an instant, this would all be taken away. While playing soccer one night, I tore three ligaments in my knee. Due to this injury, I was told I would never play the same again.
During this time, I didn’t have another coping skill to help me overcome adversities. I fell into a cycle of Depression and anger. At the time, I didn’t know the true definition of Grief. I now know that grief can manifest in different ways. Although I knew my life as an athlete would not ever be the same again, I was able to grow from that experience. I strongly believe that Growth is change.
