Fueled by chocolate, sleeping on the floor, and deep conversations with his characters, David embarked on an unconventional writing process. His resolve to maintain creative control led him to reject publishers who didn’t align with his vision, declaring, ‘You’re a million miles removed from the subject matter, and I want this book out.’
The success of his book didn’t stop there. It opened doors to teaching literacy in schools, sharing his passion for storytelling with students. A BBC competition win further showcased his talent, as he recorded his entry, which later inspired a play performed in his hometown of Scarborough. With hopes of a film adaptation on the horizon, David’s journey highlights how creativity can transform even the darkest moments into a beacon of hope.”
