According to Steve #5 – A Little of This, A Little of That
I used to work with a general manager who, as you walked through the hotel halls with him, would make a point of picking up a piece of trash off the floor. I know he was testing to see if you’d pick up the next piece. It was fun watching those new employees who didn’t know about his tactic.
Now that masks are coming off, look for people who smile easily. These are the ones we should connect with – the ones who don’t dwell on sadness or worry and realize we must “make the best” out of even the worst situations. Pass on those who still live in the past.
Next time you attend a meeting in a boardroom setting, watch your coworkers and see who tries to take up as much tabletop and chair space as possible. Confident people take up more space. Those with less confidence take little and sit as far away from the boss as possible. How much space do you take?
We should say NO more often. This will prevent us from being pulled in more directions than we can handle…and disappoint those we cannot help.

Speaking of meetings, it’s very disrespectful to be late for a meeting. I had a boss who was ALWAYS late for every meeting – and HE was the one who called for the meeting. Go figure!
I miss Johnny Carson and the Tonight Show. These guys today can’t hold a candle to him.
You can tell the personality of the person by their smile and how frequently they show it. Well, at least I think I can tell…
I’ve never seen the movies Driving Miss Daisy, Titanic, Ordinary People, The English Patient, Out of Africa, or Slumdog Millionaire. Even though they’re all Academy Award winners, they never appealed to me. What about you?
What if we simply told people what we really thought (the truth) and stopped worrying about sugar-coating it? We’d all be better for it. Well, at least after the initial shock of honesty wore off!
I don’t like taking surveys after a purchase. I know it’s important information for the company, but do they act on the info anyway?
The Honeymooners TV show is a classic and for me, is still as funny today as it was years ago. It only aired for 1 season between 1955-1956 and had 39 episodes. Fun Fact: The Honeymooners take place in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. I lived in the same neighborhood for 34 years before moving to New Jersey.
Since living in New Jersey, I’ve built 12 separate gardens around my house. Over the years I’ve spent a fortune on plants only to see the deer and rabbits chew away my hard work. Now, the animals have won. I just don’t have the energy to keep up the fight.
What about you?
