In what ways can we make choices to invest in our wellbeing?

Over the past few months I have been taking courses in Positive Psychology through the University of Pennsylvania delivered by Coursera. Dr. Martin E. P. Seligman’s lectures, videos and research are at the center of these courses.

Wellbeing has five elements, which are referred to as PERMA , a theory developed by Dr. Martin Seligman.

No one of these elements defines well-being, each element does contribute.

Looking at these elements, when they are not present our wellbeing is impacted.

In finding new ways to move forward in our new world of work, each of the elements as they align with our values and purpose are key. In the center, are relationships and the importance of building connection.

In Barbara L. Fredrickson book Positivity she shares:

“Positivity opens us. The first core truth about positive emotions is that they open our hearts and minds, making us more receptive and more creative.”

In what ways can you incorporate greater PERMA in your life? For further reading on PERMA take a look at this article.

First and most important, be kind and patient with yourself. I believe the more we can look at those ways to be positive and celebrate achievements, no matter how small, we can show up as our best selves.

Be kind.
Be patient.
Be nourished in all you do.

I am a Wellbeing Coach and a Holistic Nutritionist with demonstrated success in nurturing healthy employees and high performing organizations. In December 2017 I founded The Nourished Executive where we partner with our clients to invest in their wellbeing and share strategies to manage stress and prevent burnout.

Prior to launching The Nourished Executive, I worked primarily as a Project Manager/Executive Assistant.

I feel so blessed to have been involved in leading, creating and building unique community partnerships, delivering client and community focused events and meetings and working with many talented executives.

For me it continues to be a top priority to find those ways to partner and nourish the wellbeing of myself and others. This begins by fostering psychological safety and creating boundaries in alignment with our values and purpose.

I believe we can find ways to harmonize life, where work does not come at the cost of life.
