I was gone half of July. My routine was off. My practical pauses are very practical.
Movement: Yoga followed by Juice Pod in Stone Harbor. Hot Yoga is a vibe I feel I do at the beach, just in summer.
Watched: My favorite books come to live on TV- We are liars is a great book (as is the prequel, Family of Liars. The Prime series has a fantastic cast with many actors’ offspring. Not for young eyes, though, despite it being a YA.
Hearing Jesse Itzler Speak: That was a Family highlight. Read my 5 lessons from Jesse here.
After months of needing physical help, I wanted to show my appreciation for my hubs in a way that honored his extroverted ways. I planned a surprise party for him this year’s birthday with a keg and required vintage frat inspired outfits. It’s his dream birthday, not mine.
Jon’s an extrovert x 100.
Nora turned 12, she wanted a big NYC experience, including Jelly Cat Diner experience whose tickets are like getting Swift tour seats. She is into adventures. I did not want to be in midtown on a 93 degree day, but I did it for her, not me.
What does light me up? The detailed planning of the party, the invite, the reminders, the food and the events and seeing the party animals Love being in celebration.
July’s greatest hits.
1- Electrolytes for humidity nausea. When it is so hot out, not matter what I do, I start to feel sick. CURE blood orange is my summer jam but I love all of the flavors.
2- Walks without music or airpods at all – I actually look at the water, hear the ocean, create content, have epiphanies. SILENCE is golden.
3-Stay at home days. In the fall all we do is run from school to practices. On vacation we are up and on the go, enjoying being away. So, I accidently created summer stay at home days for chilling, crafting, being bored, taking care of scheduling, working and decluttering. I created at least 4 in June and July although they were not always 1x week.
4- Body Scans. Maybe I say this every month, but I work to breath and visualize my body’s energy moving or in some cases, not moving. I work to shift the energy in the stagnant spots or understand more.
5- Set myself up for fall– Practically, everyone is all over the map. I’m setting up my own Doctor appointments for September and planning a few adventures with friends. (hello, Salem!)
Nothing feels easy about impending August. I’m so sad it’s coming to the end of summer. There are fall sports, Volunteering, tryouts and buying school supplies and uniforms plus another little get away to be near water, again. I’m booking the mini trip, the day trip, fitting in the visit to the diner….fitting it all in.
Rituals I’m keeping up- writing, swimming laps, yoga on my deck and getting organized.
September is for me: bloodwork, calls with my coach and appointments that are so important to for Health. Book the mammo, colonoscopy, functional DR, DO IT NOW
