Introducing Runway to Street Style Fall Fashion 2024
Every fall there is a flurry of influencers talking about fall fashion ideas. While I don’t subscribe to the fact that we should purge and buy on trending whims, I think it’s helpful to look modern and contemporary.
Quote of the day: “Most decisions are like hats. Try one and if you don’t like it, put it back and try another. The cost of a mistake is low, so move quickly and try a bunch of hats.” James Clear
One of my ways of thinking is you can make almost any item seem more modern by using dichotomy in your look.
Meaning, that if you are styling something that is “out of style” pair it with something that is “trending” and you will look fabulous.
That’s why I wanted to share 4 fall fashion trends from the runway and 5 that may not be seen on the runways, but you see all over real people on the streets or on social media.
The thing is none of these (except one) is truly new. In fact, I have articles showcasing almost all of these fall trends.

Runway Styles For Fall Fashion 2024
Many times you look at the runway looks and think who really wears that? Right?
It’s all about getting the vibe of the runway and not necessarily copying the looks. This idea is very similar to the Pinterest looks I’ve been copying lately.
Faux fur has been big for the last couple of years.
It makes sense for Faux Fur to be on the runway for fall fashion 2024 because it incorporates texture and fun.
Insider tip: Don’t think twice about how fur pieces can make you look “bigger”. Bigger is better anyway, right?
You are going for warmth and FUN!
Of course, the Runways edition of Fringe may be a little scandalous for most of us. But both my mom and I have fringe skirts that I DIYed myself. And they are much more modest.
Yet fringe can be found anywhere on a clothing item or even on accessories.
Insider tip: I’ve seen women add a fringe trim to a jacket if you like DIY.
Animal prints are easily the longest-living print that remains fashionable. While you don’t see it as much in the summer, it’s truly essential for fall fashion 2024.
While sheer items can be intimidating since most of us wouldn’t wear them by themselves, they can be such a fabulous layering item.
Insider tip: The material of most sheer clothing is such that it helps keep you warm. It may seem sheer, but since they don’t breathe, they are great for winter.
Street Style Fall Fashion 2024
When I was first blogging, I didn’t understand what Street Style was. But once you start following influencers, especially on Instagram, that’s when you see what women wear around town (or at least to post on IG).
Some people have commented that street style is becoming almost as crazy as runway styles, but it’s meant to be authentic and individual.
This means you can wear what you like and the fashion police won’t come arrest you.
If you’re looking to be modern and contemporary in your style, the best girls to watch are the GenZers. You may style the items differently than they do, but I believe the young kids are the ones to copy.
Vests
I’ve always been a vest fan as proven by my wardrobe. In fact, one of the black menswear vests that I was sporting all year was purchased over 12 years ago. Even though it wasn’t trending for years, I kept it and love that I can wear it again.
It’s not just menswear vests that have been big lately. I’ve seen short vests, long vests, button vests, and pullover vests on all the young kids.
Western
I’ve loved the Western trend for years, although I realize it’s easier since I live in the West. But many details can give off that Western vibe without making you feel like you’re wearing a costume.
For instance, fringe is a great example. And cowboy boots are very mainstream right now. Another favorite of mine is the rancher’s hats which have a bit of Western flair without being too cowboyish.
Insider tip: If you struggle to get your traditional cowboy boots off by yourself, consider the ankle boot variety.
Denim Skirts
For older women like us, the longer denim skirts are truly fabulous.
Notice the footwear worn with them. There’s a huge variety you can choose from including white sneakers.
Insider tip: You don’t have to stick with blue jeans denim. They come in all colors and if you don’t like the slit in the front, some have slits on the side.
If the slit feels too high, you can always layer a tulle or silky skirt under it.
Wider Bottoms
All influencers have been talking about wider jeans for years now. These changes in silhouette take a couple of years before most “normal” people are used to the look and embrace it.
It’s not that you can’t wear your skinny jeans anymore, but the wider silhouette on the bottom half is truly modern. That means a change to more fitted tops but that doesn’t mean you have to throw out all of your bigger shirts. This is why I wrote ways to wear your big shirts in a modern way.
Crew Socks
And for the last trend that I’m noticing on all of the GenZers to share in our fall fashion 2024 is crew socks.
Most of us are used to no-show socks, but now it’s time to embrace fun and colorful socks showing from our shoes.
