Daily Looks: Week Ending 8.4.23
You’d laugh if I told you that our week was cooler because we had days under 110 degrees. The truth of the matter is that I dress more for staying inside when it’s this hot outside. One of these days, I’ll have to show off my dog-walking outfits too.
I think you would enjoy it if you signed up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
Saturday
I went with a monochromatic white look after picking up this crochet hi-low topper at Just Be Youtiful. This piece adds so much personality to a basic t-shirt and jeans look. In fact, the store has them in this ivory and also in black so reach out to her on FB, if you’re interested. I can’t wait to wear it over a dress too.
The tank top is from Mott & Bow, and it’s been such a wonderful summer top because it’s their lightweight slub version.
The shoes are Walking Cradles. The style isn’t available right now, but the brand is still being made under a different site called Ros Hommerson.
I thought the crochet shoe fit in with the outfit perfectly.
The raffia earrings keep the summer vibe going and you can find such a wonderful selection of these types of earrings on Amazon.
Sunday
A hot day called for a floaty dress. I won this dress in an Instagram giveaway. If you’ve never tried entering those, I recommend it because your odds are a ton greater than the lottery.
Heck, I even wrote an article about how to make it more successful because I have won a lot.
I wore my white, studded sandals and accessorized with blue earrings on my ears and blue earrings on my belt. In hindsight, I like it better with only one earring on my belt, which is why I took one off after seeing this photo.
This is exactly why I recommend taking a selfie every day. Looking in a mirror gives a different perspective than looking at the same thing on a camera.
Monday
I’ve loved these green paper bag waist shorts ever since I bought them. You’ve seen them when we went apple picking and even when I talked about the paper bag waist trend.
Yet, I’d never paired them with a green top, so I grabbed this crop top that you saw when I talked about college trends. The top doesn’t seem that cropped when you pair it with higher waist bottoms.
I wore my Macreme belt with it that I bought last year, but it’s available again at Target. This belt is one of those that adds a summer vibe to any pants or dress and goes with so much.
The light pink sandals were an incredible find at DSW last year because while they have height, they don’t have a slope so they are easy to wear. PLUS they came with velcro on the strap, so I didn’t have to do that myself.
BTW, I have a blog post and video about how to create a velcro shoe strap from one that used to be a buckle.
I even wore a scarf headband along with my cactus earrings.
Tuesday
This was a dress that my mom found after taking photos one time in downtown Scottsdale. It was on the sale rack for $17 because the zipper was broken. And my wonderful mother fixed the zipper for me and took in the sides so it was tight enough to stay up.
I wore it last summer when we went back to Denver (worn on Wednesday of this Daily Outfit post) with pearls and snakeskin sandals.
For today, I thought it would be fun to brighten it up with pops of bright pink. At the waist is a magnet that a wonderful reader sent me.
The pink sandals I bought when we were in Seattle a couple of years back because I had worn heels when we went out and we ended up going shopping. So I needed more comfy shoes. Now, come on, tell me that isn’t the sneakiest way to get new shoes, LOL!
This pink bracelet I found at the Musical Instrument Museum gift shop, and it’s nice because it’s so lightweight and easy to wear in the heat.
Even the earrings are pink with gold (as seen in the title photo), and are from The Bias Cut site where the motto is that “Ageism is Never in Style”.
Wednesday
You’ve seen this flowy, blue top a couple of years back when we went to the Mini Time Machine museum. This time I decided to pair it with the iconic white pants for summer.
It’s a conservative, safe look, and with that, I added color to the outfit with my earrings, glasses, and bracelet.
The top has a hook and eye at the closure, but my bra was a higher one today, so I used Maggie’s glamour magnet to keep it closed. Right now the smaller magnets aren’t available, but you could always use the larger ones.
The shoes are a new style from Walking Cradles turned Ros Hommerson. It’s the same comfortable Walking Cradles construction with the tiny pillows and incredibly soft leather, but under a new name and found on the Ros Hommerson site. These loafers are the Winnie II in winter white.
Insider details: Ros Hommerson still incorporates sizes 4-13 from Narrow-Wide wide, and I have a discount code, JODIE10, which can be used on your first purchase until Dec 31.
Friday
This is why I love a dress. Put it on with shoes and accessories, and I’m good to go.
This isn’t a new dress. You saw it when we talked about how even older women can wear ruffles. It’s amazing how many of my friends think that ruffles are only for young girls.
But I get it. I wouldn’t have worn this dress before I retired because ruffles were not my idea of a strong, smart woman. Besides, back then I hadn’t found a comfy, strapless bra yet either.
I’m wearing my Gatherall bra which has been a lifesaver in this heat since there is no material wrapping around my back.
Even though it’s hot, I decided to layer two delicate necklaces which don’t overheat me as much as a bigger statement necklace would.
Of course, I’m taking a topper for when we go inside anywhere and I choose a cropped bright orange jacket.
Thank you
