Daily Looks: Week Ending 8.30.24
A couple of these days I included clothing that I DIYed, altered, or knitted. I don’t always think about the things I’ve changed to make them fit better, but the more I do it, the more I realize what an essential skill it is. Knowing I can change something, allows me to be open to buying great deals when thrifting and such.
I think you would enjoy it if you signed up for the emails below. Besides the free eBook, my email family gets personal tidbits of what’s going on in my life along with other happenings, sales, information, giveaways, extra photos, and interesting articles.
Saturday
This is the set where I did an easy alteration on the back of the top in Friday’s post. The set was only $1 and I thought if it didn’t fit, I could do something with the material.
Since we were just hanging around the house today, I wore the pieces together. But even still, I felt a tad exposed.
That’s why I pulled out the kimono/coverup from our Rotita swim article. The coverup can feel too overpowering when I tie both ties in front, so I tied the lower tie behind me to keep the lower portion open.
Then I wore Birk-like sandals to counteract the sexiness of the set. Did it work? Hmmmm, who knows? But it would feel too racy with strappy sandals.
Sunday
Not only were we going to church today, but we are meeting up with a reader who is visiting from NY. So I threw on this colorful dress from my recent Your Revolving Closet box. I love how the clothing rental company allows me to return the clothes as soon as I’ve worn them and then they send me another box.
I added my favorite sandals from the season which are on sale at DSW now. If you like getting deals, this is the time to shop for sandals.
Since I let my hair go curly, I held it back with a fabric headscarf and used its blue color repeatedly in my accessories.
BTW, the “jewels’ on the straps of the dress are clip-on earrings. You can see them better in the title photo.
And because the back of the dress (seen here) is criss-cross, I wore my boob tape (which I found on sale at all places, iHerb).
Monday
I wanted to wear this amazing necklace, the most thoughtful gift from Stephany, who I met on Sunday.
Any outfit can come together starting at any point, and I thought this necklace looked fabulous with this tank top and brown print pants (worn years ago with a print top).
I am print mixing in a way with my sandals since the straps have an embroidered design on them. BTW, the sandals are having a fabulous sale with code, SUMMER40.
The necklace is this twisted bead design so I paired it with my large bead earrings.
And I wore my two-toned brown eyeglasses.
Tuesday
Today was Tai Chi and Physical Therapy so this outfit worked for both. PT is why I wore the sports bra under the denim top I just DIYed. Otherwise, you wouldn’t see that extra black/grey part.
I also decorated the front belt loops with clip-on earrings.
The joggers are lightweight for Tai Chi since they stretch and you can move in them.
I wore my white sneakers with the pink star on the side and the cutest earrings ever (as shared in Saturday’s email). A local woman makes them from a photo of your pet, and my friend Cathie bought them for me for my birthday last year.
Wednesday
Dog training day means styling a casual yet fun outfit.
This Cabi top was thrifted for $1 over a year ago, but it was one of those clothing items that annoyed me. When I washed it, the straps would wrinkle up on themselves badly. And the front panel wouldn’t stay down.
As a self-proclaimed fix-it girl, I ended up tacking down the front panel and then adding a blue ribbon to the underside of the straps. Today I wore a navy bra under it and liked how it added depth to the straps when I moved.
The jeans are ages old and the sandals are ones that I reviewed earlier this season. Seriously, every time I put them on, they feel like slippers, and I think it’s because the material is soft and cushy instead of hard leather.
My bling is with my accessories including the charms on my glasses.
Thursday
If possible, I like to wear my “new” things, so I don’t forget I have them. The gold Mary Jane ballet flats were an impulse buy from BR taking advantage of their sale. They are still a great deal and come in 3 other colors. They don’t have arch support like my gold standard comfy shoe brands, but if I’m walking a lot, I’ll wear my Sole Insoles which are easy to change from shoe to shoe.
Insider tip: I sized up a half-size so I could wear them with fun socks when it gets colder. I like the roomier feel, but I think they run TTS if you want them snug.
The skirt is one that I transformed from a pair of jeans as seen here. When I was sent the jeans as part of a collab, I figured I had so many pairs of white jeans, but I didn’t have a white denim skirt. So I just made them into a skirt I would wear.
The tube top was knitted with some “new” yarn. SHHHH, it’s not released yet, but you’ll read about it soon. I thought it was cute over this oversized white blouse from my Your Revolving Closet box.
Thank you
