Daily Looks: Week Ending 8.25.23

I really stepped outside of my usual this week with a monochromatic look, and then two darker dresses. It may not be my usual, but I think it’s good we change things up occasionally.

Saturday

Daily Looks: Week Ending 8.25.23 &Raquo; Sat 1
Shorts: no label-Goodwill~~Top: no label-Goodwill~~Shoes: Franco Sarto-Goodwill

You’ll be seeing the process behind this outfit in a blog post early next month. But it’s all thrifted from our recent experiment.

I’ve been loving the leather trend, and I find it super fun to wear them in the winter with tights and/or OTK boots. This pair could be considered a bit big for me but I like the looser fit since the weather is warm.

The top is sheer, so I’m wearing a sports bra under it.

Have you all seen the hack to tuck your top into a belt loop? It’s a great trick, but the issue is you have to redo it every time you go to the bathroom. Which is why I love these scarf clips (found on Amazon). You could easily gather the material with an elastic too, but sometimes that can be bulky.

I wore the monochrome outfit with pops of pink (as per my stylist…thanks Suzann).

Sunday

Dress: from VIPme c/o ~~Sandals: Unisa

We were going to an opera on film today, so I wanted to get fancy. This dress was from a company that has since gone out of business, but I love the shape and color of it.
You can see how I styled it originally here with neutral shoes (and its self-belt), plus how I styled it for colder months (with combat boots).

I thought it would be fun to add yellow to the dress with my earrings, belt, and sandals.

And it was cool enough to wear my hair extensions too, Yippee!

This pair of eyeglasses is my second pair from Jim Halo. I’m really loving the cat eye shape frames lately because I think they give a nice upward lift to my face.

Monday

Dress: Banana Republic~~Belt: Just Be Youtiful~~Sandals: Payless

You’ve seen this shirt dress layered in all kinds of ways years back. Yet with the hot weather, it’s also good on its own.

I did add this cool denim belt to it that I recently bought at Just Be Youtiful. It is lightweight and loose enough that it works fine for the heat.

Then I wore these velcro sandals that I bought at Payless in the kid’s section. They were the impetus for my idea of changing out buckle ankle straps to velcro, which I recently showcased in a live video on Facebook.

A fun fedora hat was great as another element to lighten up the look.

Tuesday

Dress: Masai Copenhagen~~Sneakers: G by Guess-Goodwill

I don’t wear black very often, but I’m trying to expand my style comfort just like I think it’s good for you to do.

This dress is from the company Masai Copenhagen which is now available to US customers. They have different silhouettes available. Some are looser (like this dress), and some are more fitted (like the black skirt I wore recently).
I would recommend sizing down in this dress.

You might think that a sleeved dress like this wouldn’t be good for our hot weather, but this dress is such lightweight cotton that it’s the perfect option. I also love that it buttons down the front, so I can wear it as a duster too.

I pulled the waist in with a clear elastic and then added something decorative over top.

To lighten up the look, I chose my floral, newly thrifted sneakers and colorful accessories.

Wednesday

Daily Looks: Week Ending 8.25.23 &Raquo; Wed 3
Pants: Target~~ Top: Cabi-Goodwill~~Sandals: Pashion Footwear-won in a giveaway

We had a chiropractor appointment today, so I chose pants for the day.

This pair of mint green paper-bag waist pants are from years ago. They are very lightweight and great for our summer weather.

Then I added this colorful, print top that I thrifted last year. You saw it once when I talked about proportion body dressing. I almost gave the top away because the straps always wrinkled up when I washed it. And who wants to iron straps? However, I decided to sew a trim under each strap which makes them wrinkle-resistant, and now I love it.

I am wearing it today with my body tape (talked about here).

Then I pulled out these convertible sandals that I won in a giveaway. I love the idea that you can take off the heel to make them flats, but the disadvantage is you have to have somewhere to put the heel. I’ve seen a brand called Vice Versa that came up with a solution to this problem, but I haven’t tried it yet.

I’m wearing my favorite, colorful raffia earrings (from Amazon) and this is one of my new pair of Jim Halo glasses. Who knew I would wear orange glasses so much?

Friday

Daily Looks: Week Ending 8.25.23 &Raquo; Friday 2
Vest: Alembika–Life’s a Thrill– code Jodie50~~Jeans: Alembika~~Sandals: Chicos

I don’t know if you’ve heard of Alembika before, but they concentrate on unique fashion for women over 50. I’ve worked with them in the past and ADORE their unique designs.

Their fall/winter designs are on their site now, and I was able to snag this AMAZING vest that I will be showcasing on Instagram in September. It’s not only asymmetrical, but it has that same animal print trim on the back (and it’s hard to see in this photo, but the armholes are different colors).

You can button it up around the neck, but I decided to use one of my Maggie magnets to hold it together in the middle front. This company is definitely not your budget-oriented brand, but I will definitely splurge on something that is one of a kind like many of their pieces. (For instance, I wouldn’t spend the Money on their jeans per se, but their market pants or tunics and jackets are super cool).
Their sizing is very generous.

I wore this with a column of white and my green sandals (I wore these sandals with a green dress in the past).

Thank you
