Typically, when you spend time among a group of people with the same occupation, there is tension. I experienced the opposite of that earlier this week with the “Bookable Speakers” Live Event in Dallas Texas. This cadre of professional speakers worked together to hone our craft and make one another better. Experts came and encouraged us with sound counsel and the voices of experience that allow for low tuition learning. That Wisdom polishes our presentations and refines the processes we use.
Contrary to popular belief, professional speakers spend a great deal of time alone. One of the great benefits of this event is the squad of support that is now on my phone for referrals, questions and just plain old understanding of the day’s challenges. I made more than a few acquaintances, Relationships based upon common understanding were forged and mistakes were corrected without ego standing in front of learning!
This experience was truly a peer group, although the speakers were so refined and sophisticated, I was humbled to even be in their presence! If you need a speaker recommendation, hit me up because I met a dozen people who are incredibly qualified to stand on your stage and deliver excellence! This experience reinforces the proverb that “Iron Sharpens Iron”!
