What an exciting and tiring time in a new parents’ life. A new, tiny life has been born and so many emotions are swirling in the new parent’s life. There is sleep deprivation, joy, love, hormones, and many other emotions.

What could you bring a new parent? We thought we would give you some ideas to shower the new parents with love.

Gigi SusieI am expecting my 5th grandchild to be born in the next 6-8 weeks. I am so excited to see my daughter experience motherhood first hand and know she will be a great mama.

To me, when choosing something to put into a gift basket for the new parents, how about a gift card for meals (Uber eats, grocery store) or cleaning services to help keep up with housework (we all know cleaning is at the bottom of the list of things to do; however, we all love a clean house especially when guests arrive). A new lounging outfit for the new mom is always a great idea and makes her feel good as well. After all, she carried and nourished this little one for 40 weeks. She deserves something that makes her feel good.

It’s all about showering the new parents with love. Love for each other, love for their new bundle of joy and love for their family.

I can’t wait to meet my new granddaughter soon, Thalia Pauline!

Lala MalanaYou can never go wrong providing meals for a couple just coming home with a new baby. Gift cards that Gigi Susie mentioned are always appreciated. If you live close by, a home cooked meal that they could eat now or freeze for later would be a great idea. Make sure you put it in a disposable container so they don’t have to worry about returning a dish. Providing disposable plates and cups could also help with a quick cleanup. If you are out of town but want to help out with some meals, there are many restaurants that ship anywhere in the U.S. I have personally used Lou Malnati’s Chicago Pizza, which is awesome. There are several options to choose from and who doesn’t like pizza. Another option I like is Portillo’s. Also, from Chicago, offering shaved Italian beef and Chicago style hot dog kits to make sandwiches in a jiffy. And no, I am not from Chicago. Maybe a New York Cheesecake or Texas Bar-B-Q. Goldbelly.com shows many restaurants that offer shipments from a variety of states. Having a meal delivered from a favorite spot of theirs would warm their hearts , bring a bit of nastalgia to the new family and provide more cuddle time for baby. Its’s a win-win!

Mimi JackieThe point of gifts for new parents is to express your love and support for them, and as grandparents we love to do just that! Here are some of my favorite items that will help the new mom and dad while adjusting to life with their precious new baby.

A coffee warmer! They’ll definitely be drinking a lot more coffee or tea and sometimes that warm cup takes a back seat when their baby needs attention. Here is one to consider that has great reviews and can be found at the link here on Amazon.

Those sleepless nights will begin to take its toll. This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray is an award winning, natural, aromatherapeutic blend of lavender, chamomile and vetiver pillow spray and it works to calm both mind and body. Both mom and dad will love how this helps them to fall asleep and wake up feeling more refreshed! It can be found at this link on Amazon.

Lastly, your time! There’s nothing like the gift of your own time to show them how much you care. You can make them a gift card for some housekeeping, cooking, yard maintenance or chauffeuring older kids around.

There’s no doubt mom and dad will appreciate a gift that’s not only helpful, but thoughtful, fun and most of all practical.

Nana AlisonNew moms and dads have many needs, but I think the most precious gift that one can give is your time. Offer to babysit even if just for an hour, so they can go out for a quick dinner together. Another idea is to gather the baby laundry, bring it to your house, wash and dry and deliver it folded, just like a professional. That way, you won’t be in their way!

Here are some inexpensive products to take care of mom and dad:

Hand Soap and Hand Cream–With so much hand washing going on, this is sure to be appreciated. One hand soap to try is Puracy Natural Foaming Hand Soap available here on Amazon. It is only $17 for a 3 pack and is free of harsh chemicals, plus has a natural lavender vanilla scent. This Burt’s Bees Ultimate Care hand cream with Baobab oil available on Amazon is a best seller. It’s fragrance-free and makes your hands feel like velvet without being greasy. This is great item for the diaper bag.

Sleep masks–New parents need daytime naps and in order to make sleep more beneficial, darkness is necessary. Try this 3 pack of sleep masks, for mom, dad, and an extra…because we all know that new parents lose track of things.

Electrolyte mix–The nursing mom definitely needs to be properly hydrated and with the chaos of having a newborn, both parents will likely neglect drinking enough water. This Re-Lyte electrolyte mix is made with quality ingredients, is sweetened with Stevia and tastes delicious. (I use it regularly to keep up with mineral deficiencies). It is available on their website, redmond.life and also on Amazon (with some limited flavors).

During this hectic time of life, I’m sure the new mom and dad will appreciate anything you can do, no matter how big or small. As the saying goes, it really is the thought that counts.
