Holiday Paid Time Off
Work from home, remote workers, and those of us working in a hybrid work model often make the mistake of foregoing holiday paid time off. This time is usually needed to disconnect from work and enjoy holiday celebrations with family and friends.
A recent FinanceBuzz survey found that 61% of workers feel that as long as they are making more Money they are willing to work through the holidays. The money might be good, but what about work-life balance? Employers have become accustomed to employees giving up their time, so in some industries employees are expected to complete work assignments during time off the clock.
Checking email or doing any work-related messaging during holiday paid time off constitutes work too! Don’t feel shamed about peeking, but to be your best when returning to work take the time to take care of yourself while you are away instead.
Remember when businesses opened on Thanksgiving Day for holiday shopping? This practice felt more like holiday paid time off being stolen from the workers who had to be there serving customers! Thankfully during 2022 as reported by Today only a few stores kept their doors open. With online shopping readily available there is no need to take workers away from their families.
