Line dancing into 63 at Cadillac Jacks in Sarasota

I started dancing at 23. Back then it was jazz and contemporary dance, and I loved every minute of it.
Eventually, I got into Latin dance too: LA-style salsa, bachata and merengue. Then, around 12 years ago, I took my first line-dancing class.

Once you’ve learned one kind of dance, it’s usually easier to adapt to another style. But even if you’ve never danced before, a beginner line-dancing class is a great place to start.

Last Friday, I took my niece to and we had a blast. There were people of all ages and all levels, which made it feel welcoming and fun.

I’m sure I’ll be back. It’s close to home, and it’s such a great complement to my strength training and Yoga.
Dancing is a wonderful way to be fully present while also challenging yourself mentally and physically. You have to listen, remember the steps, coordinate your body, and keep moving, all while having fun.

I’m grateful that I can still keep the rhythm, and I plan to keep dancing right into my 63rd birthday next month.
