Early-onset dementia affects individuals typically under the age of 65 and can bring unexpected challenges for both the person diagnosed and their Family. Because it often appears during a time of active careers, Parenting, and independence, symptoms such as memory loss, personality changes, or difficulty with problem-solving may be overlooked or misattributed to Stress or Burnout. Raising awareness about early-onset dementia is critical, as early diagnosis can lead to better care planning, access to appropriate resources, and meaningful support for families navigating this life-changing condition.
In this episode, Andrea Albertini & Doris Muscarella are joined by Carla Pisani and Scott Taroff, founders of EarlyOnset.org. Carla & Scott had a common college friend who experienced some memory issues and was eventually diagnosed with Early Onset Dementia. In an effort to help him financially and to insure he maintain a place to live, they created a new non-profit organization where 100% of the proceeds go to helping those suffering through the struggles of Early Onset Dementia.
