  1. Leading Through Change with CliftonStrengths® & Vision Crafting — A Conversation with John Hildebrand S5E08 Sheri Miter- Strengths-Based Career Coach & Visionary Strategist 1:00:17

If you’ve set big goals for the year but they already feel like a heavy obligation… or if you’re a leader trying to fix team problems but only finding more frustration… this episode is for you.

Today, I sat down with organizational change strategist John Hildebrand to explore why traditional goal setting often fails without a “magnetic vision.” We discuss the science behind why goals can become “negative emotional attractors” when they aren't connected to a larger purpose, and how to shift your brain into a state that sustains long-term Growth.

John shares his personal journey from a status-driven definition of success to one of deep self-discovery. We unpack the difference between “fixing” and “visioneering,” the hidden power of Empathy in leadership, and the specific questions you need to ask to bypass your inner critic.

You’ll learn:

✓ The “Magnetic Vision” Secret: Why setting goals without an inspiring 10-year vision is a recipe for Burnout and failure.

✓ Vision Crafting vs. Problem Solving: How to use the “Positive Opposite” approach to focus on what you want to see, rather than obsessing over what’s wrong.

✓ The “Lottery Question”: A powerful Exercise to silence your practical brain ($500 million tax-free!) and discover what truly lights you up.

✓ Empathy as a Hard Skill: Why this talent is often misunderstood and how it serves as a direct line to building trust in teams.

✓ Living the Questions: Wisdom from poet Rainer Maria Rilke on how to be patient with uncertainty and “live your way” into the answers.

Sheri Miter Serial Entrepreneur

Sheri Miter is a serial entrepreneur. Her first business was selling painted rocks to neighbors when she was 7! This entrepreneurial spirit led her to many failures but also some huge successes, such as a Chimney Cleaning business with her husband Tom, a professional firefighter, and eventually a business as a Mary Kay sales director. While in Mary Kay, Sheri led her team to six-figure years multiple times, and YES, she drove the iconic pink Cadillac for part of her career!

Despite her success as a Sales Director in Mary Kay, Sheri found herself at a crossroads after 25 years. She began to question if this was the path she truly wanted for the next decade of her life. Even after achieving her best year, she felt a sense of weariness and asked herself, 'Is it ever going to be enough?' This internal struggle led her to a brave decision- to step away from her role as a Sales Director and embark on a new journey. This journey led her to become a Gallup Certified CliftonStrengths Coach. Today, Sheri has crafted a life she loves, assisting other highly successful women to discover their 'what’s next' career. She is passionate about working with women who have achieved success making the money, but are now eager to make an impact by unleashing their God-given strengths and embracing their true calling!

When Sheri isn’t busy with her clients or recording a new podcast, she cherishes her time with her grandkids and embarks on exciting adventures with her husband. Their escapades often include the beach, biking, or out boats. At the end of a fulfilling day, they savor the beauty of the sunset with a cocktail in hand, a testament to Sheri's belief in enjoying life's journey.
