Why I Started Using Oracle Decks

When I first ordered an oracle deck, I was desperately miserable and anchored in my Yoga practices. I used to do yoga daily (except postpartum) and continued throughout covid. Oracle card pulls felt unfamiliar—like something meant for someone more intuitive than me, someone who didn’t live by to-do lists and structured plans. But the further I journeyed into Coaching and wellness, the more I found myself craving tools that invited reflection, intention, and connection.

Oracle decks became that tool to pause.

Pile Of Taro Cards

Unlike tarot, which has a structured system of characters and suits , oracle decks are more freeform. Craving the grey of my own interpretation was so important. My first three decks were the busy and beautiful Moon Deck or the Inner Compass Deck. I’ve tried other oracle decks and found them to have too many good-vibes-only bypassing instead of meeting me where I was.

At first, I drew a card daily to ground myself in anything besides my wild thoughts. Over time, it evolved into a deeper ritual with the moon cycles. I noticed how the act of looking at the back of the cards felt like stillness. Drawing a card, reading its message, and sitting with it—even for just a few minutes—became a moment of pause in my day.

Oracle decks also offered something surprising: open trust. Regardless of the deck I used, I began to look inward and trust my gut. Sometimes, the answers came from within—or through a gentle nudge from a card in your hands.

Now, I use oracle decks not just for myself but also in my work with clients. They are an incredible starting point for conversations, reflections, and realizations. Pulling a card during a Reiki coaching session or a retreat often sparks just the right insight for the moment.

For me, oracle decks aren’t about predicting the future; they’re about grounding myself in the present, reconnecting to my intuition, and opening up space for curiosity.

If you’ve been curious about oracle decks, I encourage you to give one a try. Pick a deck that speaks to you—whether it’s the artwork, the theme, or even just how it feels in your hands. Pull a card, read its message, and take a breath. You might be surprised at the Wisdom it offers
