About Coach Greg Hess
Greg Hess, fondly known as “Coach Hess,” boasts a distinguished background both in athletics and in business. A graduate of the University of Calgary in 1978, he excelled as the captain of the basketball team and earned All-Conference honors. His passion for playing basketball continued well into his late 30s, during which he competed against renowned players such as John Stockton and Dennis Rodman. From 1978 to 1991, Coach Hess dedicated himself to educating young minds as a high school Social Science teacher while also holding the role as Head Basketball Coach. His tenure at Westlake Village High School in Southern California began in 1987, where four players from his program received Division I scholarships over three
years. He furthered his coaching career at California Lutheran University (CLU), where, alongside managing Magic Johnson’s basketball camps, he completed his MBA in just 18 months. His impressive 14-year coaching record stands at 265-78.
