When crafting a Retirement plan, be sure to include Life Purpose and Legacy. Having purpose will get you up and going each morning! My Life Plan Assessment will evaluate how satisfied you are with your current purpose. Check it out here: https://carolmarak.com/life-plan-assessment
Start with a personal mission statement that reflects your core values, passions, and the impact you want to have during your retirement years.
#1. Reflect on Core Values and Passions
Begin by identifying your core values—those fundamental beliefs that guide your decisions and actions.
Ask yourself:
What principles have been most important in my life?
What activities or causes am I most passionate about?
List these values and passions, and consider how they’ve shaped your life so far.
#2. Envision Your Ideal Retirement
Imagine what a fulfilling retirement looks like to you.
Consider:
How do you want to spend your time?
What impact do you want to have on your family, community, or the world?
Think about the roles you want to play—mentor, volunteer, creator—and how these roles align with your values and passions.
#3. Write Your Mission Statement
Craft a concise statement that captures your purpose in retirement.
Start with a phrase like:
“My mission in retirement is to…”
“I am committed to…”
Now, Incorporate values, passions, and desired impact into this statement. For example:
“My mission in retirement is to inspire and mentor young professionals in my community, sharing my experience and knowledge to help them achieve their goals.”
or
“I am committed to promoting environmental sustainability through volunteer work and educating others about the importance of conservation.”
