Overview: News about research into cures, vaccines, causes, and more keep the Parkinson’s community hopeful…but policy changes can impact scientific efficiency. Officers from The Michael J. Fox Foundation discuss the latest and shed light on their own research priorities.
Panelists
Bradford Casey, PhD – Bradford Casey Ph.D. leads the Fox Foundation’s Genomics and Data Science research portfolios, working with other Foundation scientists to develop and implement the Foundation’s research strategy. He collaborates with researchers, clinical leaders, and industry partners to develop new programs, apply new technologies, and ensure that MJFF research priorities reflect and best serve the needs of patients. Bradford serves as a scientific liaison for many of the Foundation’s collaborative research partnerships, including the Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s Collaborative Research Network, the Global Parkinson’s Genetics Program (GP2), and the Accelerating Medicines Partnership (AMP-PD), a public-private consortium focused on leveraging strengths of federal, academic, and industry partners to develop shared resources for the community. Bradford is passionate about collaborating with Experts across disciplines to expand the impact of Parkinson’s research on behalf of those affected by the disease and advance scientific research in the public interest.
Julie Edwards – Julie Edwards is a Philanthropy Relationship Manager at The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF). Every day, Julie is inspired by the groundbreaking research MJFF is spearheading in the Parkinson’s disease field and the MJFF community’s tireless advocacy for government policies that will better serve individuals with Parkinson’s and their families on a state and national level. She looks forward to the progress ahead and continuing to share resources with the community.
Moderator
Eileen Lynch – Eileen first joined Parkinson’s Resource Organization (PRO) in 2020 to bolster funding for PRO’s digital programs. Since then, Eileen has supported the organization through significant Growth as Director of Operations and now as Executive Director. At PRO, Eileen focuses on developing quality programming and thoughtful collaborations with community partners. She also runs PRO’s Round Table support groups for people with Parkinson’s and caregivers. Previously, Eileen worked for legislators and healthcare nonprofits in Virginia and Washington, D.C. to advocate for better healthcare access.
