In this episode former NFL player and current Director of Athletics at Lane College, Derrick Burroughs, discusses how his experiences on the field prepared him for leadership. Derrick Burroughs is a retired NFL cornerback who is currently the Director of Athletics at Lane College. Derrick played college football for the University of Memphis and was drafted in the 1st round of the 1985 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills as the 14th overall pick. Derrick played his entire five-year NFL career with the Bills and spent much of his career as a coach, serving as Head Coach for Lane College during 2 separate stints (2010-2013 and 2015-2019). Derrick has also served as the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Jackson State University, among other Coaching positions. Derrick is also the founder of Icon Sports, a non-profit organization focusing on promoting community-based outreach programs, youth sports enrichment programs, and social awareness issues that directly affect the community.
