Oscar Mike Radio with Travis Partington

  1. Oscar Mike Radio with Travis Partington HomeFront Sitrep 1:32:16

I served in the Marine Corps in the late 1990s, got out, and moved on with life. I began getting involved with some local veteran organizations and realized that there are many different stories and efforts happening that need to be told. For active military service members, veterans, and non veterans, I had an idea to create a place to meet and share ideas on how to be there for each other. I looked at different ways to do this and decided the best way to get the message out, was to use a podcast/internet radio format. To all those who have supported this so far, thank you and Semper Fidelis.

It was about that time that read about an event at Massasoit Community College. The school was hosting the first annual Dale Dorman Media Day in April 2016. One of the breakout sessions covered podcasting. Keith Hayes of Sinista 1 Productions was going over what it took to do a podcast. I told him of my idea to start a show and he asked me to write it up. It was there that Oscar Mike Radio was born. “Oscar Mike” is military-speak for “On the Move”. I wanted this to focus on military and Veterans’ stories that would move people. I found that doing a show and talking with people who were working to change their lives started to change me.

David Willis HomeFront Sitrep Podcast

My name is David Willis, I knew at a very early age that I was going into the military but didn’t know what branch. As I got older and started learning about each branch and quickly figured out that the Marines was the best. I served in the Marine Corps from 97-04. My MOS was 0311(infantry). I went to Paris Island for boot camp after boot camp I was stationed with 2nd blt 8th Marines Golf company. While with 2/8 I went on several deployments to port a prince Haiti, Okinawa, South Korea, Greece, also did two trips to Bridgeport California for cold weather training, I wasn’t going to make a Mediterranean float so I extended and joined 1st blt 8th Marines Bravo company. During my time there we deployed to the Mediterranean and had stops in Spain, Italy, Malta, Africa, and other ports. I got out of the Marines in August of 01, but 9/11 happened and was recalled to go back in where I was stationed with a mobilization support battalion and deployed.
