An Alzheimer’s Adventure in Peru!

  1. An Alzheimer’s Adventure in Peru! Jennifer Fink 1:14:00

Please enjoy this rebroadcast of an episode based in Peru. We’re sharing Travel related episodes for your enjoyment this summer.

An Alzheimer’s Adventure In Peru! &Raquo; Barbara Drake Vera May 2023 V2 1 1536X1484 2

How can getting eldercare for someone with Alzheimer’s be better in Peru? To begin with, the cost of living is so much lower in Peru than in the United States. Instead of $600 a day, Barabra Drakes father lived like a king on $600 a month.

If you’re listening to this episode, you may be facing terrifying options for a loved one. The cost of care in countries like America, Canada & the United Kingdom can be prohibitively expensive. Many families are faced with choices that are unacceptable but they don’t have better options.

It is possible to retire outside the United States. It takes careful research and planning but it may be an option worth considering. Barbar’s blog can help you start your research correctly and maybe you too will have a Peruvian Alzheimer’s Adventure with your loved one.

After helping care for her grandmother who had vascular dementia, Jennifer realized her Mother was showing signs of early onset Alzheimer’s. After the death of her father in 2017 Jennifer went searching for answers to many of the common questions and Alzheimer’s caregiver faces. Being a busy entrepreneur Jennifer realized that a podcast would be the easiest way to learn more about caregiving while completing other tasks.

Sadly, in late 2017 she only found one and it didn’t quite address what she was looking for, so she did the next best thing, and started her own. The Fading Memories podcast is now in it’s fourth year and despite the death of her Mom in March 2020, Jennifer is still talking to caregivers and still learning how to be an excellent caregiver. On the podcast she discusses caregiving, brain health, self-care and how to age well.
