Podcast Summary
Kevin, a remarkable climate advocate with roots in the Bronx, takes us on an inspiring journey of service and purpose in both business and life. Raised by a Panamanian mother who imparted the Christian values of a servant’s heart, Kevin shares how his experiences in the U.S. Army and his career in banking and law have been driven by a deep commitment to helping others, especially entrepreneurs. His introspective journey, culminating in the authorship of "Onward at Last," challenges the individualistic narrative that often dominates our culture, reminding us of our shared humanity and the power of community.
The conversation shifts to the critical intersection of climate action and professional purpose. Kevin’s transition from the financial sector to climate risk management was inspired by the Legacy of his beloved mother, Andrea. As the first climate risk qualitative lead at US Bank and a contributor at Freddie Mac, Kevin has pioneered efforts to integrate climate risk into financial strategies. Through his consulting firm, Climate Changes Everything LLC, he continues to support local communities and financial institutions, emphasizing the importance of addressing climate challenges with a sense of urgency and collective responsibility.
Exploring themes of interdependence and historical Wisdom, we reflect on the lessons learned from military service, particularly the importance of being present. The idea of inviting Jeffrey Sachs, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Franklin Delano Roosevelt to dinner offers a thought-provoking insight into their contributions to economics, social justice, and global strategy. As we underscore the ripple effect of sharing knowledge through podcasts, Kevin and I express our gratitude for the support of our listeners, inviting them to continue this journey of impact and discovery with us in future episodes of "Doing Business with a Servant’s Heart.

I was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. I graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School, then served four years of active duty in the US Army as a member of NATO. I attended college in Houston, Texas, and graduate school in Connecticut. My career began with a one-year commitment as a FEMA Disaster Assistance Loan Officer. I went on to build a successful career as a business banker but found my calling in climate risk mitigation. I am happily married to Nikole and live in the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area in Oregon.
