Tempe known for its vibrant scene struggles with a crime rate 73% higher than the U.S. average driven by gang activities. In 2022 the city recorded 1,152 violent crimes and 7,672 property crimes.
Although relatively safe for its size contends with a crime rate 61% higher than the national average. Persistent gang violence and notorious crimes such as those committed by serial killer Mark Goudeau, contribute to the challenges.

Winslow stands as the fourth most dangerous city in Arizona with a crime rate 107% higher than the U.S. average resulting in a 1 in 21 chance of residents being victimized.
