The President of a company asked a group of employees a direct question, “what do you think my most import job is as President?”.
They gave the standard answers of:
– increase shareholder value
– maximize revenue Growth
etc.
He stopped them and asked it a different way.
“What’s the most important job I have to do for you”?
“It’s to ensure I have a job to come to the next day”, they said.
The best leaders are those that understand it’s personal for everyone.
Not all employees care about shareholders but they do care about providing for themselves and their families.
You job as a leader is to ensure they have a job.
You’re not always able to do that but it should be your goal.
