Today we explore how hardship changes us and why we can’t return to who we were before. How she survived a full-blown psychosis in her 40s, living with a congenital blood disease and repeated near-death pulmonary embolisms, and how a January hospitalization and turning 50 led her to cancel big birthday plans, retreat alone to the mountains, grieve, and confront mortality. We discuss stopping instead of pushing through, building healthy Relationships, normalizing Trauma, using reflection, divided attention and grounding in breath/heartbeat, reframing negative self-talk with statements of fact, and focusing on small daily wins.
