Every year doesn’t need a full-blown reinvention.
Sometimes the most meaningful changes come from small, steady shifts that can begin anytime of the year…not just at New Year’s.
Quote of the day: “It’s not how good you are, it’s how good you want to be.” Paul Arden
I’m not one to talk about resolutions, but I believe that variations in our routines can be beneficial. Just think about it.
The definition of insanity is “if we continue to do the same thing over and over and expect different results”.
Heck, sometimes we aren’t even sure what to change up. That’s why I continue to read and learn as a way to find ideas and good daily habits.
I’m in no way perfect, and while these might work for me, each of us is distinctive.
I didn’t start off doing these, thinking I would Love all of them. And there are some that I haven’t continued.
But I try to analyze my habits and only stick with the ones that behoove me.
What I hope to communicate is the idea that good daily habits can be powerful.

The best part is you get a daily dose of positive energy.

I’ve already blogged about my experiment with gua sha, but it deserves a place here because it became one of my favorite good daily habits of 2025.
What started as a way to try to change the look of my jowls became the solution to my dry skin. Every esthetician has told me I have dry skin (no surprise there, since I’m menopausal and live in arid Arizona).
However, once I started my gua sha routine, my esthetician now comments that my skin is hydrated.
While it could be the oil I use in the morning as opposed to the gua sha practice, I believe the gua sha massage has also contributed to my healthy skin.
I know it has helped to dissolve tiny hard bumps on my face, and it feels good on my tight neck muscles after a night of grinding my teeth.
I still have wrinkles, and I’m okay with that, but I feel more glowy.

Oil I use lately (use code Jodie10). Serums are not thick enough in my experience.

Another good daily habit in 2025 was starting Primal Queen beef organ supplements.
It probably seems like I jump on every supplement bandwagon. And most times, it’s hard to tell if supplements are working.
But after my initial blood work revealed low iron levels, I figured this might be the answer.
One of my Instagram friends has shared how her doctor has suggested eating more organ meats. While I believe that to be a good thing, it just hasn’t happened in my daily life.
So I thought this supplement might help.
So imagine my happiness when my iron levels and iron saturation levels increased in my follow-up blood work after starting these Primal Queen supplements.
While I can’t “feel” a difference, I know that doesn’t always mean everything.

The last couple of years, Rob and I have finally added a good strength training routine.
But recently we have made a couple of small tweaks.
Our trainer from years ago always instructed us that we need to change things up because our muscles adapt, and it’s important to keep stimulating them.
Changing up our routine is also a fabulous way to reduce overuse and injury.
Insider tip: Routine is good, but becoming stagnant is not. This is true in all avenues of life.
What did we change?
-We start our strength training with 3-10 minutes of aerobic activity and make sure to use different machines each time. Sometimes it is the rowing machine, sometimes the bike.
-I try to follow fitness gurus on social media and get ideas for new Exercise challenges. We are still trying to work up to some goals, but we try to vary the exercises each time.

I realize that the best daily habits we can develop are refusing to let our routines become stale. It’s so easy to fall into a rut, but I try to remember that our bodies are smart. We need to give them what they need.

I was introduced to 2 “healthy” apps that have helped our Health journey. The Yuka app and the Bobby Approved app.
Insider details: Bobby Approved is only for food, and not all brands are included.
Yuka is for food and skincare. If the skincare brand isn’t in the app, you can screenshot the ingredients, and it will score them.
While we use these to check new products, I also know that even the app’s score should be taken with a grain of salt.
For instance, the Yuka app scored a fluoride toothpaste with a good rating, yet I have changed my tune about fluoride for myself.
The Bobby Approved app gives a “No” result to all seed oils. While I try to keep these out of my Diet, there are times we still buy the product.
Insider fun: Want to see our weekly grocery hauls? Rob uploads them to his YouTube channel.
Are these apps the answer? Maybe, maybe not.
Of course, you can read all of the ingredients yourself. But it’s nice to have some input about the chemical ingredients in our skincare, as well as a fast and easy way to make a ‘put it in the cart’ decision.

Both apps are free.

This may be one of the simplest good daily habits on this list, and also one of the most underrated. It all started when my friend, Marsha, blogged about having treatment for her blocked eyelash glands.
After this, I was seeing ads for warm eye compresses.
Now I realize I could heat a washcloth and put it over my eyes, but it never stays warm enough for long enough.
That’s when I bought CorneaCare air-activated warm compresses.
I started doing this for eye comfort and dryness, and I was shocked at how soothing it became. I’ve battled dry eyes ever since college, when I was wearing contacts, and it’s only gotten worse. Plus, I’m not a fan of eye drops (too many questionable ingredients in them).
Once I figured out my eyes LOVED this idea, I found an option that seems less wasteful and more budget-oriented.
But it’s one of those good daily habits that makes you think, “Why didn’t I find out about this sooner?”
BTW, I put on my eye compress during our nightly wind-down time.

Try the disposable compresses
Purchase the reusable one (and there are many others if you have certain preferences)

This year, I leaned even harder into upcycling, and it became one of my most joyful good daily habits. While it’s not really a “daily” thing, I still wanted to include it here.
Turning old pieces into something new.
Reimagining what I already own.
Finding creativity instead of constantly buying more. Well…I can’t honestly say I’m not buying more, but hey…
I’ve decided that upcycling isn’t just about fashion, it’s about mindset.
It trains you to see possibilities instead of limitations.
And I consider it very empowering.
After the new year, we all hear that we should purge our closets and get rid of items. But there is a lot to be said for upcycling those pieces instead.
If you haven’t researched where your purged items go, then Google what happens to used clothing. Here is one video from PBS.

By analyzing my good daily habits, I’ve learned I don’t have to be perfect. I just need to give it a try and ensure that it’s really constructive.
I don’t have time for unnecessary things.
Some habits will come and go. Some will stay for years. And some will evolve into something new. Just remember you are unique, and while it might work for everyone, you aren’t everyone. However, you can’t stay stuck and expect things to change.
So try it. Assess it. Keep it if it’s working, or try something else if it’s not.
