A Time Out for Strategic Planning Encourages Growth
Periodically, we each face a moment when we feel our minds are blank and wonder why we are putting in the effort for business. Worse is the thought of quitting the endeavor, whether entrepreneurial or job-related. When we feel as if we are at a dead-end, an excellent approach is to take a time-out, like sports, from work to realize how we may perform better to achieve the goals we desire.
Although a timeout may sound like a timewaster, it can be used for strategic thinking and planning when necessary. Moreover, acknowledging the purpose of our timeout ultimately becomes the perfect platform to encourage growth.
NOTE: My time out will take place the first week of July.

My Story
Vacations plus holidays such as the 4th of July are the perfect time to unwind and allow free-flow thinking. Surprisingly, ideas appear seemingly out of nowhere that can greatly contribute to future success!
I frequently refer to outdoor activities and Travel to refresh my mind, while holidays contribute to higher-energy conversations. And those who observe grand fireworks displays on the Fourth of July will likely be captured by the beauty, creativity, and appreciation of the ‘something different.’ Afterward, memories may well conjure up new ideas for business.
Alone Time Benefits
Often, specific thoughts may emerge when we reminisce about our holiday experiences and with friends. They may raise questions or ideas about what would happen if I were to do XYZ. Those who gleefully spend time alone will examine the idea of XYZ from multiple angles to determine their next best steps.
Time Outs Provide:
- Private thought without experiencing sneers and unwanted statements.
- The time and ability to examine an idea from multiple perspectives.
- Realization of how you may connect the dots between what is already in place and the new idea.
One Small Step
Attention to detail is critical to transforming an idea into action. Like observing fireworks, for example, from multiple angles, we can ignite our enthusiasm to move forward with an exciting idea. We don’t realize initially how one idea may generate new ones and positively affect what is already in place. The only requirement is to be daring and willing to revise what may need further assistance to convert the one small step into something unique that becomes well-known.
Your Story
Many are in the time zones to experience summer vacation. Generally, it’s a slower time for business. However, year-end is the most hectic of all. During the slower months, it’s good to revisit your thoughts about ‘if only’ and ‘I wish I could.’ As you observe life, equate it with your career endeavors. Connecting the dots again may raise new ideas that excite you for future growth regarding mindset, possibilities, leadership, and business growth.
It’s best to capture and hold your thoughts to see if they come to mind again. Once you realize you are on the ‘repeat’ cycle, it’s wise to seriously consider the ideas you are keeping secret.
Ideas often require a significant amount of background learning, but they typically increase the level of enthusiasm for proving they can be done. Even better, you reach new heights unexpectedly, which motivates you to continue enjoying time outs for future planning.
In Conclusion: A Time Out for Strategic Planning Encourages Growth
Over time, as we realize our accomplishments and the reason they occur, bravery can set in by sharing what we learn. I refer to bravery because many may sneer at your findings. Networking in person and connecting online with those who think similarly will add to the dynamics of your overall strategy. While free-flow thinking might be yours, the results arriving from collaborative efforts far outweigh what we can do solely as individuals. A time-out may be your key to strategic planning.
