As we gear up for the 1:00 PM Eastern, July 15th, meeting of the Impact Cherub Club, we invite you to join us. The club meets to review impact investments everyone is eligible to make, and virtually anyone can afford. We share responsibility for completing basic due diligence before making investments. While members are encouraged to invest in the Club’s picks, no one is required to invest.

The Club is open to all “Impact Members” of the SuperCrowd (our paying subscribers). I don’t touch the Money members invest. They do so directly for their own accounts. We benefit from new members by the fresh perspectives they bring and our growing social impact. Please join us!

Next Meeting—July 15th, at 1:00 PM Eastern

At our next meeting on July 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM Eastern/10:00 AM Pacific, consistent with our plans for future sessions, the agenda will have three items:

  • Diligence Reports

  • Post Mortem

  • Preliminary Consideration of New Candidate Investments

I’ll review those items in reverse order.

New Company Consideration

After some preliminary screening, I’ve shared some candidate offerings with the members of the club to choose which we’ll review this month. Members chose the following:

Sphere

Sphere is a fintech firm democratizing climate-conscious Investing by creating a low-fee, diversified climate fund that integrates directly into existing 401(k) plans without employers needing to switch providers. As a VC-backed team with experience at Ayar Labs, Bank of America, and US Bank, they’ve already secured placement in 150+ plans and partner with 3(38) fiduciaries and advisors to scale rapidly. Their unique platform also empowers companies to measure and reduce 401(k) carbon emissions using GHGP standards, aligning Retirement Planning with sustainability goals. Sphere combines financial Innovation, regulatory alignment, and social activism to steer trillions away from fossil fuels. Sphere is raising on Wefunder.

Black Fives

Black Fives Properties, Inc. is a for-profit CPG startup preserving pre-NBA African‑American basketball history by owning and monetizing the logos and trademarks of dozens of historic Black teams from 1900–1950. Since 2021, the company has generated over $865K in combined e‑commerce sales and global licensing royalties—without traditional advertising—through direct-to-consumer merchandise and partnerships with brands like Nike, Converse, PUMA, LIDS, and the Big East. Founded by historian and brand leader Claude Johnson, the firm empowers descendants of pioneer players to co‑own their heritage via Reg CF fundraising through Wefunder—with a $10M valuation cap SAFE. Profits and royalties reinforce cultural preservation, storytelling, and social equity in sports history.

Short-Fuse Offering

Each month, we spotlight a “short fuse” offering—an investment opportunity with a tight fundraising deadline, often closing within a few weeks. These offerings don’t allow for our usual two-month, two-meeting review process, which includes an initial discussion followed by a final vote. Most short-fuse deals are small business loans that offer attractive financial returns while also allowing us to support community builders, social entrepreneurs, and underrepresented founders making a meaningful impact.

Post Mortem

Review of a past deal, now complete (failed or successful). Look for lessons.

Diligence Reports

We’ll begin with the due diligence reports from the Impact Cherub Club members who volunteered to research the companies after we briefly learned a bit about them last month. After hearing the members’ reports, we’ll vote to determine whether or not to recommend investment in the companies. The decision will be made available to all Impact Cherub Club members, including those who don’t attend this month. Register here.

Here are the companies we’ll learn more about this month:

Neopenda

Neopenda is raising capital on Wefunder to scale its life-saving medical Technology for emerging markets, starting with Africa. This impact-driven company has developed NeoGuard, a low-cost, wearable vital signs monitor designed specifically for newborns in overcrowded hospitals. With traction in Uganda and partnerships with leading Health organizations, Neopenda is tackling the tragic problem of preventable infant deaths with scalable, tech-enabled care. The team combines public health expertise with engineering prowess and a mission-first mindset. This raise helps them expand distribution, grow revenue, and bring their innovative solution to more hospitals where it’s most needed. A compelling blend of purpose and potential.

Red Line Safety

Red Line Safety is raising on Wefunder to revolutionize emergency response with its patented tech that helps save lives in real-time. Their wireless, portable system allows first responders to locate people trapped in buildings—like schools, offices, or apartment complexes—with speed and precision. With real-world deployments already underway and strong interest from major agencies, Red Line is turning proven innovation into public safety infrastructure. Led by a team of seasoned entrepreneurs and technologists, they’re addressing a massive, urgent problem with scalable hardware and software. This raise supports production, Growth, and broader deployment. It’s a bold move to modernize rescue operations.
