What To Wear With A Crochet Tops for Spring: 3 Stylish Ways to Wear Them Now

If you’ve been around here for a while, you know we’ve already talked about crochet in both fall and summer. So now I thought I’d continue the idea, thinking about what to wear with crochet tops for our spring weather.

Quote of the day: “Forget your mistakes and remember the lesson you learned.” Unknown

Crochet became hugely popular again last year and remains a fabulous and fun option, no matter your age.
The advantage of this material is that it is lightweight but textural, breathable yet interesting, and (my favorite), it’s one of those pieces that can look completely different depending on what you layer with it.

Yet, crochet tops can feel a little tricky because there may be some exposed areas that aren’t comfortable for you.

Another detail is that they often lean “boho,” which might not be a style you relate to.

That’s exactly why we wanted to revisit the topic with fresh ideas that feel modern, wearable, and totally doable with what you already own.

I hope you join my email Family. It’s the place where I share things even before creating on my blog. It’s also my space for fun and positive content. In addition, you also get my free eBook when you sign up, but that’s not the best part.
The best part is being part of my community, where we inspire and lift each other up.

1. Charlotte-Add a Cami or Tank

Charlotte shows us how simple can still be chic. She paired her crochet top with a cami underneath, which is probably the easiest way to wear one.
Don’t forget you can also use a tank top for a bit more strap coverage.

What I Love about this option is how customizable it is, because if you wear the same color of cami as the top, then you don’t notice it, but if you choose a contrasting color, you get fun peeking through.

I had my mom wear this beautiful skirt, and she added her white cowboy booties.
This is a perfect example of how to mix style vibes…she is wearing a classic skirt, boho top, and western booties. And they all play well together.

Style tip: This is a great time to “shop your closet.” Those layering tanks you already own? They’re perfect here. No need to buy anything new.

Details:

-I wore this skirt in a FB video –as a dress, when someone requested how to wear a skirt that is a bit big.
-Did you notice that my mom made her skirt? She used to make a ton of her clothes (and mine too).

2. Jodie- Double the Crochet

I layered two crochet pieces: my long-sleeve top under a sleeveless version.

This is a trick I’ve used with lace in the past. When you have something sheer or holey, layering it on top of the same type of item makes it more solid.

For what to wear with my crochet tops, I grabbed this recently thrifted, reversible skirt along with sneakers.

Style tip: If crochet feels too boho for you, then just think of it as Lace’s casual cousin. And add in a bunch of different style vibes to counteract that thinking.

Details:

-These beads I found at a garage sale. I think they are home decor beads, but I used them as a necklace instead.
-I added tassels to my purse.
-Black and white polka dot socks with my black floral sneakers.

3. Lesley- Tunic Layer

Lesley took a slightly different approach by wearing a long tunic tee under a crochet-trim vest. This is the perfect type of crochet if you don’t want the sheerness of most crochet tops.

I love that Lesley combined the ivory vest with a longer black t-shirt/tunic AND then paired it with white.
Remember, white and ivory are just different shades of the same neutral and look incredible together.

Style tip: Play with proportions. A longer base layer with a shorter piece can create a really interesting silhouette.

Details:

-Lesley is a pro at adding a fun accent color as she did with red in this look.
-Statement necklaces are trending in 2026, so pull yours out again and have them be a fun detail.

Why Crochet Works So Well for Spring

Spring style is all about light layers, and crochet fits right into that mindset. It gives you:

  • Texture without heaviness
  • Coverage without bulk
  • Interest because of the design

I would like to suggest that your crochet top allows you to be creative. You can reinvent the outfit just by changing what’s underneath.

The Real Takeaway

You don’t need a whole new wardrobe to make crochet work for spring.

Look in your closet for:

  • Tanks and camis
  • Long-sleeve lightweight tops
  • Tunics or longer tees
  • Even other crochet or lace pieces

Mix them. Layer them. Try something that feels a little unexpected.

Because as I ALWAYS say, style isn’t about following rules. Instead, it’s about experimenting and having fun.
