I am not a skier. I’ve only skied twice in my life and had never even been on a chairlift. I also don’t Love heights or steep inclines, so this was very outside my comfort zone.
But my daughter Chloe is a ski patroller and EMT at Kirkwood. She does avalanche control and responds when people need help on the mountain.
This time, she loaded me into a toboggan at the top and skied me all the way down exactly as she would transport an injured skier.
I trust her judgment. And clearly she knows what she’s doing.
Watching her ski in front of me with so much control and confidence was something I will never forget.
She turns 25 in May, and I have so much respect for the way she handles herself at work. Calm, capable, completely focused.
Avi, the avalanche dog, and Casey made the experience even more special.
